Rathnew club notes

September 23, 2019

Rathnew Gaa 1885 is the clubs one and only official Facebook page. Any other page with our name has nothing to do with our club and is run by someone with also nothing to do with our club. Please dislike any other page with our name thanks.

Jerseys and any other club gear are now on sale on the Rathnew shop on the O'Neill's website or just follow the link on our Facebook page

We had no winner of the lotto jackpot on the 16th September. Numbers 5, 23, 26, 30. We had no match 3. At the time of writing the jackpot stands at €13,000. Get your tickets from Doyle's, The Arches, The Village Inn, Rockies, Healy's Mini Market, View hair & beauty, Malone's, Dowling's Butchers and Centra every Friday and Saturday evening. Thanks to everyone who supports our lotto.

The nursery continues every Saturday morning at 11.15 and it's for all kids aged 3 upwards so feel free to bring your little ones up and give it a try. We have a few bits of gear for sale, check the Facebook page or text Hazel 0860592935 for details.

Hard luck to the under 14 girls who narrowly lost the B championship final to An Tochar on Saturday in Bray. Not many teams score 11-3 and lose a match but it's been a brilliant year for this team with some excellent displays and also winning the league. Well done to Mark, Darren, Debbie and all the girls. The minors had a great win away to An Tochar on Thursday night in the championship 2-12 to 0-11 to make two wins from two in group 1. The under 15s are away to Baltinglass on Saturday at 6 in the championship. A win for the lads would put them into the A championship final for the second year in a row while a defeat would put them in the A shield final. The under 11 teams have their county finals also on Saturday with the reds up against Bray Emmets and the greens up against St. Pats, both games are at 10am in Ballinakill. Good luck to all 3 teams and management on Saturday. The intermediate team take on Stratford on Wednesday in a relegation playoff with the losers dropping down to Junior A for next season. Throw in is 7.45 in Avondale.

The club presented SKC Providers Limited with a framed jersey for their shop as a small thank you for all their continued support of the club. Best wishes to senior player Ross O'Brien who had his knee operation last week. Well done to Glenealy on making another county final by beating Carnew in the championship semi final on Sunday and now face Bray Emmets in the final.
