Ladies

Senior Ladies - We commenced our Dublin League games on Wed 3 Apr with a strong win over a good St Jude’s team on a cold wet night. Solid performances from Sarah Peppard, Alana McMahon & Niamh Cullen in defence and Shona O’Connor scoring 3-4 from midfield. Score: 6-11 to 2-2. A long trip to Ballyboughal on Wed 10 Apr with a lot of regular players missing. We allowed the home team to get on top for a long period of the game but with a second half comeback we almost pulled it back and the team effort is to be commended. Score: 3-17 to 4-10. Three of our U16’s stepped up for their senior debut and slotted right in. Well done to Bryana Reid, Grace Quigley and the outstanding Kayleigh McGuire who was player of the match. Next up Wed 17 Apr away v Ballyboden. Wicklow League Fri 19 Apr at home v AGB 7pm.

Junior Ladies - Home v Carnew on Fri 19 Apr at 7pm.

Wicklow Minor Ladies – The ladies have booked a Leinster Semi Final place after beating Carlow in Tinahely on Sun 14 Apr on a scoreline of 2-16 to 4-06. Well done to Moya Richardson who represented Blessington GAA.

Wicklow U16 Ladies – Well done to the ladies who recorded a brilliant win over Carlow on a 7-09 to 5-04 scoreline.

U16 girls - What a match - the girls were brilliant and won the match on Tues 9 Apr away An Tochar 2-8 Blessington 1-13.

U14 girls – U14 Blue had a big win today away v St Pats 3-16 to 0-0. Excellent team performance with brilliant passing, clever play against the wind and first to every ball. Captain fantastic Emily Rose O'Toole was player of the match. Blessington white at home v Coolkenno on Thurs 18 Apr at 7pm.

U14 Wicklow - Hard luck to our three U14 county girls Emily Rose O’Toole, Elaine O’Dwyer & Aisling Brennan who played in the Leinster C Final on Fri 12 Apr in Kinnegad. Wicklow 3-02 to Longford 2-13.

U12 girls - What a win tonight for the Blue U12 girls. Beating Tinahely 6-9 to 2-2. Well done to every one of them. Their never give up attitude is just brilliant, every time the ball is lost, they would win it back. The hand passing amongst them is great to watch. A few little things to work on at training, but the work rate is unreal. Super stuff. Onwards and upwards for these young girls. POTM went to Erin McMahon, her leadership from the back is outstanding. Well done Erin. .

Under 12 white team had a very tough match Sunday morning away against Coolkenno. The girls never gave up and battled hard, especially in the 2nd half. POTM goes to super Lauren McKeever who tirelessly fought for every ball. Super proud of the girls in a match against a team that have only 1 under 12s team. Thanks to all for making the journey.

U8 girls - So proud of our u8 girls who travelled to Kilcoole for their first blitz of the season. For many of them it was their first match ever! They all played brilliantly. We're so proud of each and every one of them.

Juveniles

U17’s – Our Minors played Baltinglass in the Player Pathway league on Mon 8 Apr, with both teams playing without their county Minor players. Our boys put in an excellent performance and won on a score line of 5-11 to 2-08. Well done to all the players, including the 5 U15s who came up and played a big part on the night. Next match is away to St. Nicholas' on the 15 Apr 7pm.

U15’s - Blessington v St Kevins on Wed 17 Apr 7pm.

U13 Leinster Cross Border League Final – Hard luck to the lads who lost to Westmeath in the Final in Abbotstown on Sat 13 Apr. Having progressed in the semi-final last weekend versus Ratoath we contested the Leinster Cross Border League Shield Final blue division in the Abbotstown GAA Centre of Excellence Dublin. The final opponents were Shandonagh of Co. Westmeath, they had qualified from the other side of the Group and winning their semi-final against Seneschalstown of Meath. The match was played on a pristine 4G surface and is a 13-a side contest. Blessington started off well and created some good chances, but Shandonagh proved too powerful and brought a strong squad in size and number, that eventually ran out comfortable winners. It was unfortunate for us in that we had a number of regulars absent through sickness and injury and some of our players were into the second game of the day. That combined with a couple of injuries picked in the first half gave Shandonagh an easier task, but with the better team winning on the day. Great credit to the Blessington U13/U12's who made up the squad. Every one of the lads really battled hard, made a game of it and kept playing to the end. Credit to Jack Byrne who came out of his sickbed to help the cause and David Gilmore tried to play on through a leg injury in the first half. Padraic Quinn in goals was the Captain on the day. It was a great achievement to reach a final in a division with teams like Rhode/St. Edwards/Kill etc and the matches versus Palatine, Ballylinan, Kill, Ratoath and Shandonagh and the experience of playing in Abbotstown will stand the lads in good stead further on in the Wicklow competitions. Many thanks to the parents for travelling to these matches and for the support on the day in Abbotstown. Special thanks also to the 2007's who assisted greatly in the competition.

U11’s – Blessington Blue away v Rathnew Red on Wed 17 Apr 7pm.  U11 Blessington White away v AGB Navy also on Wed 17 Apr 7pm.

U9’s - The U9 boys hosted Celbridge on Sat 13 Apr in the NKL. Despite the very strong wind in the first half the team worked hard and managed to keep pace with a strong Celbridge side. In the second half with the wind on our backs we managed to get some really good scores, often starting from our own goal kick. This week, we focused on tackling, blocking and quick passing in training and it was great to see them use these skills in the match. Overall, a very good team performance which resulted in a well-earned win for the team.

U8’s - A great morning for our U8 boys who played in the Annual Littlewoods football blitz in Croke Park on Sat 13 Apr. We had 2 teams and they both put in excellent performances winning their matches comfortably and playing some great football. A well-deserved McDonald's on the way home. They were a credit to their club on their performance and behaviour on the day. Thanks to everyone for their support.
