Referee for the replay.

(Oldest Posts First)

As I pointed out to all and sundry in 2009 Tipperary had no hope of winning the final with an Offaly ref[albeit one living in Cork] .Tipperary have lost all the A ll Ireland finals where an Offaly ref was in charge. I would be hoping that Gavin doesnt get the gig .

We'll be grand, I don't believe in bogeymen.

KILLARNEY 1987
BOGEYMEN? You better believe it; 1968 TIPP V WEXFORD TIPP LOST JOHN DOWLING OFFALY REF
1988 TIPP V GALWAY TIPP LOST GERRY KIRWAN OFFALY REF
2009 TIPP V KILKENNY TIPP LOST DERMOT KIRWAN OFFALY REF.
ALL THE BIG/CLOSE CALLS WENT TO TIPPS OPPONENTS IN THOSE THREE DEFEATS. GAVIN IS UP NEXT,TIPP HAVENT A PRAYER WITH AN OFFALY REF.

So it goes on,Tipperary have lost all the All Ireland finals where there was an Offaly ref.Facts ;1968,1988,2009,2011,and 2014. Allowing that Kilkenny were the better team, look again at Richie Powers goal.He certainly jumped at the Tipperary back before the ball arrived;fact. I thought much of the "tackling" on Tipperary backs trying to clear the ball was border line. The soft penalty given to Bonner Maher was probably a balancing act by the ref.
