U-20 2012

(Oldest Posts First)

Its That time of year again lads with the u 20 starting up again very soon.based on teams from 2 years ago coolaney will be the team to beat with farnans seeking revenge.marys however will undoubtedly be favourites based on there recent minor would be great to see marys v coolaney in a final them being the last minor champions.coolaney are they last team to beat marys in the minor championship stretching back to 2010 i would be remarkabl if they played to see if coolaney are still the kings or if marys have learned from the defeat 2 years ago.
defending champions st johns will have to be watched also.

the format is a shambles.
everyone gets two games.if ya win them both ur in a fina or something.bit hard to go by based on draw iv seen.
no wonder we havent won an u 21 connacht title in sligo when the players and coaches arent treated fairly and asked to play in a competition almost blitz like
shame on the county board.the players are in the county but they need to be treated better

there is a round of fixtures up for next weekend. whos going to that the trophy? id say johns or marys for the "A", the "B" is a lot harder to call though, pats curry or drumcliff could do it

Curry should win to set up a third meeting with Drumcliffe. What did ye make of the A championship?

any idea when the final will be. taking that the semi will be settled this weekend coming , hopefully. with lads having exams and the chance of bad weather will it be decided this side of Christmas? imo it has been poorly organised this year, it should never be let run this late into the year

was the Curry-Drumcliffe match on at the weekend?

Was on last night in the IT. Good game of football too. Curry came back well from a big deficit to get a draw and should have won it. This was after we lost a lad with a bad injury right on half time.

Have to take issue with townietalk earlier on this topic. I've counted up and between clashes with minor championship matches, draws and Connacht club, there were 6 weekends where Curry couldn't play in this since the start of this competition in early October. In those circumstances its amazing the final was last night at all and credit to the fixtures committee for that. Interesting format - looks like a move back to knockout games which a lot of people seem to like.

Should have the replay before an FBD game maybe?
