Team for Wicklow?

(Oldest Posts First)

2.Harrison. 3. McGuire 4.Donovan (familiarity in fb line)
5.McGovern 6.Martyn 7.Davey (Solid, formidable)
8.Butler 9.Taylor(Taylor with something to prove and butler flying with marys)
10.O'Hara. 11.Breheny 12.Egan
13.Marren 14.Gilamrtin 15.Kelly( if not fit Coen) (2 lively corner forwards and gilmartin to be target man, ff line which could be a handful for any defence.

Just a suggestion, many will probably disagree, thought I would think of a different approach to things

Whats the story with O'Hara is he definitely suspended? Also, has McGee been back playing club football yet is he up to match fitness.
On the positive side of things I heard Breheny and Davey played well for Mary's last weekend.

Just say the team on the Sligo website, Philip Greene, Charles Harrison, Noel McGuire, Ross Donovan, Paul McGovern, Brian Kennedy, Neil Ewing, Eamonn O'Hara Stephen Gilmartin, Brendan Egan, Mark Breheny, David Rooney, Stephen Coen, Tony Taylor, Adrian Marren
. A bit surprised not to see Johnny Davey on there but he will no doubt make an appearance at some stage. I presume Taylor and O'Hara will switch positions with Taylor in the middle of the park. We should have enough experience on the pitch to win this one though.

im not usually pessimistic but the team named does not inspire confidence. kennedy is not the answer to the centre back position. i tink he is a good player, he was by far sligos best player against meath in the league but he should be used in the full back line. noel mcguire is past it. terrific servant to the county no doubt but past it. i have never heard of david rooney playin in the forward line before even with johns. when you start playing backs up front your only asking for trouble. i cant see the team lining up as numbered. if it does i think we could be in bother

a very defensive team. I would say he wants rooney and egan in half forwards because they are good defenders more than wanting them to attack, negative but that seems to be the norm in all teams now. I would have started Kennedy in FB line instead of Maguire, and EOH CHB, Egan MF, quinn HF.

I am obviously not as worried as some people about the team picked. I think we should be able to build alot of attacks from the runs of Donovan and Harrison. My only worry really is whether the FF line will have there scoring boots on. If O'Hara is put in FF though i could see Coen mopping up a few scores from breaking balls and with Davey and McGee in reserve I would hope we have enought to beat Wicklow. I see Kelly has been back training so if we can win this one the team will only get stronger as the weeks go on.

Am I seeing things or is David Rooney playing wing forward and Tony Taylor playing full forward? What is going on?
