Sligo hurlers obviously, what were they doing qualifying for Croke Park in the first place. As for the CB articulating a case, well W B will be lining out for us before that ever happens. You could not make this stuff up! Maggiepie (Sligo) - Posts: 190 - 11/06/2018 21:50:19 2110259 Link 1 0 |
That is a classic case for the GPA. Let's see their response eoinog (Sligo) - Posts: 590 - 12/06/2018 08:07:27 2110363 Link 0 0 |
I've just solved it, Gerard O' Kelly to play for the footballers and Kelly Lynch to play with the hurlers.

Sorry but Gerard o Kelly is much better at football than Kelly Lynch is. )) eoinog (Sligo) - Posts: 590 - 12/06/2018 11:52:26 2110464 Link 0 0 |
It's an unfortunate clash that, but to be honest I'm not sure how he is making the football team anyway, if you're not a big strong player then you'd want to have other qualities to compensate, be it being great skill or, like a previous Mary's county wing back, incredible speed and agility. O'Kelly-Lynch has none of those from what I see and his consistent selection on the team baffles me. ChasingShadows (Sligo) - Posts: 28 - 12/06/2018 12:40:03 2110486 Link 0 1 |
Apparently he's going with the hurlers. Can't blame him not too often the chance of playing in croker comes along for any sligo player, more chance of winning and he's guaranteed of his place. Keelan Cawley was probably going to come in for him in the football anyways. pointman2007 (Sligo) - Posts: 165 - 13/06/2018 10:03:53 2110889 Link 0 0 |
Very hard on any player to be caught in a terrible situation like this. What about us supporters who would like to see both games ?? Not often we get to Croke Park either. As for Armagh we owe them big time since 2002 and its hard to miss that ??? Would not happen in any other county. Tommy Murphy (Sligo) - Posts: 176 - 13/06/2018 16:55:50 2111155 Link 0 0 |
O Kelly Lynch actually got player of the year a few years ago when Mary's won the championship and there were club all stars. He was very young at the time and I was surprised he got it ahead of Johnny Davey, Mark Breheny or Johnny Martin eoinog (Sligo) - Posts: 590 - 13/06/2018 17:02:53 2111157 Link 0 0 |
Were any of ye at the Meath Qualifier last year? He basically brought the game to Meath single handedly. The guy is better than yer making out here and deserves more respect. He is a loss. Sligonian (Sligo) - Posts: 1451 - 14/06/2018 03:17:40 2111361 Link 0 0 |
Very unfair to be saying here that he isn't good enough for the football team when over the last few years he has given his all to the county jersey in both football & hurling at senior & underage . Those that are saying he isn't good enough are only saying it IMO because he also enjoys hurling & they probably aren't lovers of the game . Still don't understand why football wasn't on Sunday . What ever decision the young man makes I hope it's his own & not one made under pressure & that we as supporters respect that . noboots (Sligo) - Posts: 79 - 14/06/2018 15:15:34 2111526 Link 0 0 |
To be fair to the lad, only one poster said he wasn't good enough. I was actually complimentary to him on getting player of the year over more established team mate's eoinog (Sligo) - Posts: 590 - 14/06/2018 15:35:44 2111540 Link 1 0 |
To clarify I just said he wasnt guranteed of his place with the footballers which is true. Have the utmost respect for him playing the 2 codes at intercounty level, a very difficult task currently. I've always saw him as more of a hurler than a footballer, even crom a young age it was clear he had great natural ability at the hurling. In fairness to the o kelly lynch family they've been plugging away with hurling with naomh eoin for years practically single handly keeping the club going and they deserve their day in the sun as much as he does. pointman2007 (Sligo) - Posts: 165 - 14/06/2018 21:39:02 2111644 Link 0 0 |
The Sligo Minors are playing Mayo on Saturday in Castlebar, 12.30 3 matches, in one day with the minors and hurlers on same time, did Sligo CB even whisper any discontent? Sligonian (Sligo) - Posts: 1451 - 21/06/2018 14:56:14 2113582 Link 0 0 |
I see Corey is saying that O'Kelly Lynch is going to try and comeback to make the football. Absolutely ridiculous that an inter-county player has to put with this sh*t in this day and age, wouldn't happen in the bigger counties. Where is the GPA for matters like this? Anyways best of luck to all teams this weekend, hopefully o'kelly lynch is involved in 2 victories pointman2007 (Sligo) - Posts: 165 - 22/06/2018 11:45:22 2113727 Link 0 0 |
I actually stuck up a message on the Hogan Stand National Forum about the plight of O Kelly Lynch. No one had a bit of interest in him, Interesting to note that neither the hurling or football managers raised the matter. If O Kelly Lynch plays 70 plus mins for the hurlers on the big pitch of Croke Park in the heat that's forecast, he won't be fit to head for Sligo for a football game so let him enjoy his day in the city. eoinog (Sligo) - Posts: 590 - 22/06/2018 16:53:24 2113770 Link 0 0 |
