Dreadful that in Senior League football there was 2 walkovers at the weekend. Mary's who are top of the league failed to field. They did the same last year and the 2 points that Gaels got probably kept them up last year. A hundred euro fine is not nearly enough of a sanction. They should lose 2 points. That would be a much fairer system.

It's a disgrace. Them losing 2 points would be no big deal. They should be automatically relegated.

I would imagine it was more of a protest at county players been pulled than anything else. Conceding the game is probably less damaging to them than a potentially heavy defeat. Very disappointing to see walkovers at any level but especially senior

I would be more interested in why the 2 teams didn't field. That is the bigger issue here. I've seen both teams play against my club this year and neither had more than 17-18 togged on the day. So participation is clearly low. Then as another poster says, you take their county players away and there is a big issue

In fairness to marys not that I would be their biggest friend over the years, but what they have 8 players on the county squad plus the 1/2 who were involved with the hurlers and the 3/4 who were playing for carbury in the soccer final on sunday you can understand how they were unable to field. Not to mention it being exam season and biys beung stuck in Galway/Dublin for exams.
