Club fixtures 2013

(Oldest Posts First)

Was talking to some mates from different clubs and im hearing that the club leagues starting in feb, playing 2 rounds and then no more until after leitrim v new york game!!!once again, while im not shocked by this, its another useless act by the county board and already looks like a winter league final before a ball is even kicked!

Better have another chat with them there are fixtures in the shield and junior leagues in between all of this and don't forget that as loyal Leitrim men we have a county team that we want promoted to div 3

I don't think these fixtures will affect the lads outside the country do you?

A pity the clubs won't play their league games minus county players, that way divs one and two could be wrapped up before the club championship commences. Given a club's championship status is no longer dictated by what league division they are in I am not so sure the league is taken seriously as it was a decade ago

Not talking bout the Mickey mouse shield that wasn't even finished last year,or junior leagues cos they're not affected....its senior, and there's no reason league games can't be played between last county league game and New York game!there's at least a 3 week gap there

I do agree to an extent

And I would go as far as saying get 3 or 4 clubs to propose playing out league games during this holiday

Bring this motion at the next county board meeting

Of course you will have manor and melvin and probably ballinamore and mohill objecting

But the other clubs in senior div 1 league could for once pull together and put the foot down

The only thing that could go wrong is you could end up with a longer holiday in may June and July before they decide to play the championship

Whenever that will be

The shield is a way of every clubs first team meeting and it gives clubs a chance to play new/ young players coming up from minor and so on

And it is a good insight as to where a club is at

Don't forget there was also a couple of intermediate championship games unplayed last year as well as the shield that was also left unfinished

My drumming away about the politicians must be starting to make sense when they can't even organise to finish the competitions they organised

Time for change

Minor league starting this weekend. Anyone know of a pitch playable ?? Surely the board should take the initiative and cancel all this weekend. some of our minors will spend a lot of July and August with no football. Does anyone agree ?

The sports complex in carrick is all that's playable at the minute

Any game that's played in the coming weeks/month is going to be a slow wet game with balls being dropped/missed

And plenty of good old sliding
