I ask the question where/what is the largest/biggest towns with just one gaa club
Cavan town has just Cavan Gaels with drumalee outside the town
I understand that up in Donegal you have only one club in the biggest town

biggest travesty for me is Tallaght - 5 clubs (Croi Ro Naofa, Kevins/Killians, Marks, Thomas Davis and Annes) None of them a very strong contender across either code for the senior leagues. Real shame for a place with a population of nearly 100k.

Clondalkin only has the 1 club and is a quite a large area approx 50k.

AthCliath87 you think Annes and Davis could ever merge :):):):):)

Jesus I would pay to be at the reunion proposing that!!!

Even Fury would be scared to set foot in it.

Anne's were always Bohernabreena!!! Never Tallaght

Ballymena possibly? ~30k people (although its predominantly unionist) only All Saints club represents the town. There are other clubs like Ahoghill and Portglenone in the Ballymena council area then.

Are we including Dublin suburbs?

Finglas has a bigger population then most towns and 1 club Erins Isle. Clondalkin and Lucan the same with Round Towers and Sarsfields

Balbriggan. Declared a gaa blackspot by Dublin GAA, along with tallaght and (I think) clondalkin, which for me, is the worst

North Belfast only has two clubs, Ardoyne and Pearses, which is a sad state of affairs. Soccer is the No.1 sport amongst young Catholics by a long distance in North Belfast.

Eoghan Rua Cuil Raithin spans Coleraine, Portstewart & Portrush approx. 40,000 people.
3/4 of that are from a protestant/ unionist background with little interest in the GAA, with few exceptions.

Lucan now has three clubs I believe. Sarsfields obviously.

Westmanstown Gaels on the Northside of the river and Na Gaeil Óga have started an underage structure based in Lucan now.

Clondalkin only has the one club though.

Is St Feargals not in Finglas too or have they folded? They were a tough enough bunch.

Yes it is disappointing how poor GAA participation is in quite a lot of Dublin.Tallaght is weak.Clondalkin is weak.City centre, both sides of the Liffey, very weak to non-existent.The large rugby strongholds of south Dublin, forget about it.We are riding the crest of a wave at the minute, but there is so much work to be done to make sure we don't fall away.
To answer OP's post,Portlaoise would be a good call.

UlsterMan, there are plenty of really good footballers and hurlers from North Belfast playing, unfortunately not for either of the 2 clubs mentioned. St Endas and to an extent St Johns have a lot of their players from antrim road/ New Lodge area.
