Dundalk Gael there is no Wolfe Tones Hurling club any more in Drogheda. You could put down the Cilles club in Meath aswel as their territory crosses in to the Wee County in the Dublin Road in Drogheda.

biggest travesty for me is Tallaght - 5 clubs (Croi Ro Naofa, Kevins/Killians, Marks, Thomas Davis and Annes) None of them a very strong contender across either code for the senior leagues. Real shame for a place with a population of nearly 100k.

Clondalkin only has the 1 club and is a quite a large area approx 50k.

Same with Crumlin, Drimnagh and Walkinstown Dublin County Board has no interest in GAA in working class areas

Gael85 would Robert Emmet's not be classed as Walkinstown? Naas only has the one club, am I right in saying it's the same for Maynooth?

Emmets are Walkinstown. My point is none clubs in Dublin 12 similar to Tallaght clubs are struggling to compete with super clubs

Naas would be the biggest in Kildare. Maynooth only has one club but would be a smaller town then Naas and Celbridge who also only have one club each.

I think this is going to become a big problem for the gaa in the future with big increases in Dublin and other counties population on the east coast with clubs been unable to cater for the numbers while you have clubs in rural Ireland who are going to fold due to lack of population.

There are actually 3 clubs in Cavan town Thomas. Killygarry, Drumalee and Cavan Gaels, Killygarry probably being the pick of them at the moment

Bangor, Holywood, Comber, Newtownards and all the rest of North Down only one club, St Pauls, between them with a population that must be over 100,00.

Is St Feargals not in Finglas too or have they folded? They were a tough enough bunch

Fairly sure they folded in the early 80s

Lucan has 17 primary schools and 6 secondary schools in their catchment area. There are more than 10,000 children attending those schools. Lucan Sarsfields really are the great under achievers of Dublin GAA.

In fairness to them though most of those schools are new schools I'd say. Up until 15 years ago Lucan was a village outside Dublin rather than the sprawling urban centre it is now. It's a place that's grown very quickly in a short space of time.

I remember travelling out to the 12th Lock from town to play them at underage level and it was basically out in the middle of nowhere with nothing but fields all around. All changed now.

It takes a long time to make all that new population count so I think you're being overly harsh to be honest.
