Can Kerry win back to backs?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Thoughts?

Return of Gooch & TW - younger Kerry lads also gaining the ultimate experience going into 2015

Can Kerry be the first team to do back to backs well since... Kerry

That'll be the big question now alright Jimbo.

With the Gooch back in action and Tommy Walsh returning as well some exciting young players coming through Kerry are well placed to challenge for the All-Ireland for the next few years.

Back to back is so difficult though. The Dubs, Donegal and Mayo aren't going anywhere and there are some improving sides elsewhere in the country. The next few years are going to be very interesting from a footballing point of view I think.

Kerry will win the next 5 all Irelands, time to split the kingdom in 2, and give the rest a chance.

Split them in 2, I say...

Kerry won the Minor and Senior Football All Ireland's yesterday.

We are now entering a period of Total Kerry Dominance.

The way I look at is kerry and the Dubs are the two top teams in Ireland. Donegal and Mayo are next. Mayo have a chance next year unearth a quality 14 and 15 and they will win Sam.

Are Kerry the greatest team ever?

To be fair a lot has been said about difficult it is to win back to back All Irelands. Dublin will be favourites next year.

Hard to say. Munster/Ulster semi next year. A lot of defensive football to be played before they even reach the final.

No....They will be stronger next year but this years team was poor with TW and Gooch back they will be there or there abouts.

The System as it is suits them so they will be there in the August bank holiday anyway

Think it will be a Kerry V Dublin final next year but Jim Gavin will discover there is such a thing as a plan B and Dublin will win.

Can they - yes.
Will they - maybe, Dublin are still the best team but a year is a long time to develop further. 2 of - Donegal, Mayo, Dublin, Cork and maybe Armagh all have to be overcome at semi-inal/final stage and this will be no easy task.

After this year with both teams in final who weren't expected to be back in January I'd say next years championship is wide open.

Hard to tell, imagine donaghy, declan marc and aidan will all call it a day! Gooch and tommy walsh are huge additions! Depends who comes in and what our form will be like! In a nutshell, way too early to tell!

Kerry are 4/1 to do the back to back, nice price, Dubs 5/4 to win Sam in 2015, not so nice price!

NO. AS LONGS AS JIM GAVIN DITCHES THE ALL OUT ATTACK APPROCAH AND HAVE A DEFINSVE PLAN, DUB WILL BE CHAMPS AGAIN NEXT YEAR.

I think they will find it very difficult to win it next year, not because they don't have the quality, they do, but simply because the GAA season makes it a very difficult thing to do. Their top players will be straight into club championships shortly, a good run in that could have 3 or 4 key players going flat out with their clubs until february or March.. Add in the demands of Sigerson on the younger players before the league even starts and it leaves little or no down time between now and next season. I know this applies to every County, but because of their win yesterday they have the added risk of losing even a tiny percentage of the hunger and drive that got them their win yesterday, which could be all it takes to cost them the back to back.

One thing for certain is that Kerry will win the next 25 Munster titles in a row. The result and manner of performance this year from us has set us back a long way. They are in an ALl-Ireland quarter final against the Ulster runners up and then a semi-final against the Ulster champions - then a game against Dublin or Mayo. They could win those three games.

It's funny I'm gutted after yesterday but looking forward to next year already, well done to Kerry yesterday,we just didn't perform well, but then we weren't let perform so that's football.I'm so proud of our team and county, they are great lads and a great example to young people.
Kerry definitely have the ability to win it next year but if I was having a bet on it I would say Dublin, depends how the new management team in Mayo do,but I'd expect Dublin to beat Mayo in the semi,if we manage to win Ulster and meet Kerry in next years semi we will be well up for revenge but then Kerry will have a better team next year, I'm fed up with the defensive football, when both teams play blanket defense it makes very good players average and ordinary players average,so it ends up a dogfight with the team making less mistakes the winner, you'll have flashes of good football but I'm fed up with it.
It started with Armagh and Tyrone and then Jim went over the top with it in 2011,I don't see it going away though any time soon though, when you meet the likes of the Dubs it's your only chance, unless you're Kerry maybe.

Yesterday's victory is to be savoured. Not many champions have made the next final in recent years.

With Walsh probably returning from Australia, and Gooch to come back from injury, they have a better chance than most.

And pundits & other counties were fearing Dublin would dominate for years to come.... :o)
