Tommy Walsh and Tadhg Kennelly in action for Kerry in 2009

Kerry's week just keeps getting better with the news now that Tommy Walsh understood to be on the verge of a return to the Kingdom.

The Examiner reports that the 26-year-old will not take up a contract extension offer from the Sydney Swans and will finish his Australian adventure after their Grand Final against Hawthorn next Saturday at Melbourne's MCG.

Speaking in advance of the All-Ireland SFC final on RTÉ TV show 'Thank GAA It's Friday', Walsh said: "I'm out of contract at the end of this year so there's a decision to be made. I'd love to be back there, I'd love to be togging out this Sunday but I'll wish them the best and hopefully they can pull it off."

The 2009 All-Ireland winner's return would seriously strengthen manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice's hand when he turns his attention to the defence of the Sam Maguire silverware in 2015.
