Antrim will beat Wicklow and that should seal promotion

Ha Wicklowman I did say a few counties could probably say the same. Cap fit?

Never more than a kick of a ball between Wicklow and Antrim, unsure of where your certainty of Antrim's footballing prowess comes from. I also fancy Antrim to be promoted; please acknowledge you are a Division 4 team for a reason.

As an Antrim man can I say I was embarassed by the postings of my fellow county men.

The jobs less than half done, I'm hopeful rather than confident that we'll finish the job off and get out of the division.

Whammo86 not sure what bit you are embarrased about.

'If Antrim get their act together they would be too good for anything in Division 4 and should realistically be pushing to get out of Division 3 - perhaps a few counties could say the same'

The key here is 'If' - nobody is saying that it is half done or more but I am saying that a few other counties could say that if they got their act together they to could be aiming for the upper parts of Division 3, hardly kinpins but certainly realistic targets if you are setting targets rather than just happy to strip out.

'but Antrim are a better county in Ireland than they are in ultra competitive Ulster.'

What it says on the tin. Antrim are the bottom rated team in Ulster and two divisions below the second lowest rated team in Ulster.

I found your post to be a little arrogant, maybe it wasn't intended that way. We're in division 4 for a reason, talk of being too good for the division felt premature to me.

The other Antrim poster was worse talking about beating Wicklow to seal promotion. There's a long way to go before that's a possibility, I'd rather we didn't get ahead of ourselves, we've only won 2 games after all.

Anyway Come on the Saffrons.

It'll all end in tears for us, it always does.

Disagree whammo, we should expect to win our home games and win away in London if we do that we will be promoted. Wicklow will fancy their chances against us and we will fancy ours versus Wicklow.

We're in good shape, I just prefer a quietly confident approach to things. Let the lads do the talking on the pitch. I think that's the classy way to go about your business.

Anyway each to their own, I hope we do what's needed over the next couple of months and go into the Fermanagh match in good shape to give it a proper shot.

Three horse race it is then. Antrims win over Wexford could be vital. Nothing less than 6 wins will get a team promoted as can't see any of the top 3 being beat by anyone else. Could come down to scoring difference although we'd be favourites to take Louth at home. I was disappointed with Leitrim, seriously wasteful in the first half in fact they didn't score from play throughout the game.

By my calculations Antrim just need two more points from the games away to Wicklow and home to Louth to be promoted. Possibly one point might even be enough depending on other results. And no goals conceded yet. Going well so far for the Saffrons.

One point should be enough; scoring difference should see them through. But it would take a disastrous set of results now to deny them promotion.

Tacaí,

If any team could f**k it up, antrim can.

I think we need a result next week away to Wicklow, don't fancy facing Louth in a winner takes all game, albeit its in Belfast.

So it's Antrim and Louth who get the two tickets out of Div 4. Really expected Wexford to be promoted this year but they will miss out.

Carlow, Leitrim, Wicklow and Waterford will finish in the lower reaches of Div 4 yet again, all with a negative score difference. It looks like these counties could be stuck in Div 4 forever. Wicklow are particularly puzzling as they always seem to give Antrim a very hard game.

Well done to both Antrim and Louth on getting promotion yesterday and best of luck for the rest of the year.

Cheers Green and Gold. I am delighted that Louth got promoted at the first time of asking. Plus there is a day out in Croker.

Yeah cheers Green and Gold - we have missed out a couple of times so nice to get up in to Div 3.

Ollie - what way do you see the match in Belfast going? Do you think both teams will go at it or can you see a bit of cat and mouse with the Div 4 Final to be played? Personally if I was in charge I would be going all out for both the last league game and the Final and use the 100% record as motivation for the players . I remember both the Div 4 Final in 2009 and the Div 3 Final in 2010 (both against Sligo) and they turned us over after us taking the scalp in the league both seasons . If I had to choose one of the two games to win then obviously would go for the silverware but I am greedy and want both. :-)

Oh, and the last time we were in a Div 4 Final was the year we got to the Ulster Final and lost to the reigning All-Ireland champions then went straight in to the qualifiers and drew the champions to be Kerry down in Tullamore. Any luck that year with the Qualifier draw and you never know, we could have been in the Quarter Final of the AI!

Time to get the candle lit and the beads out....

Offside it is hard to know. Both teams are promoted so the pressure will be off. Antrim along with the Dubs are the only two counties in the league left with a 100% per cent record. It would be nice from a Louth point of view to end this. Anyway looking forward to the final in Croke Park.

79 people at the leitrim Waterford game this evening ... must b a record low attendance for a national league game ..
Why was this game played this evening and not tomorrow like all other league games?
