A good assessment of Tyrone would have been the way Ciaran Whelan assessed Dublin's game. Whelan' assessment of Tyrone was disproportionate and he attempted to vilify a whole county. For good measure he attempted to back date the vilification. This is in contrast to his treatment of Dublin. Maybe, if he had actually won some AI medals his reporting on Tyrone would not be so venomous.

Tell us exactly what he said and what you objected to. He lashed his own county out of it on the SG, particulary singling out McMahon while at the same time he didn't even mention Cillian O'Connor's antics, Lee Keegan or other black/red cards that could haven been dished out. What did he call out on Tyrone that didn't actually happen? Is Whelo now added to the Tyrone hate list? What's his winning of a celtic cross got to do with analysis? He's generally regarded as one of the best midfielders of his generation. No need to get personal on him.

Some of the RTE analysis can be quite good and entertaining if only they could eliminate the very personal offensive/insulting dimension .. it adds nothing to the debate and you can have robust analysis without it.
One of their panel gave the impression in the Sunday Indo that 750,000 tune in just to hear the panel.. I wonder how many viewers would still watch the televised game with no panel involved. Defending their product by comparing numbers tuned to RTE instead of Sky makes no sense when one channel is free on the Saorview platform and the other is a premium satellite one. Many of us have great loyalty to our National Broadcaster and care enough to regret it abusing its position and feeling the need to constantly stir up controversy in order to remain relevant.

What a strange statement to make, are we to take it then that every Tyrone footballer who retired before 2003 is venomous as well?

That's fine Soma, hey you prefer your analysis to be pundits telling us whether or not they enjoyed the game interluded with personal attacks on players, management and on occasion referees I guess Brolly and Co are the guys for you.

It's called opinion lads. You prefer the Sky scripted synthetic responses a la MOTD then fair enough. Horses for courses.

I wouldnt say the Sunday game is unbalances or has an agenda, mostly on the Sunbday game they tend to be balanced.

Most definitely though O Rourke, Brolly and Spillane do against certain teams, that couldnt have been more obvious than it was last sunday with their non reaction to what went on compared to how it would have been with other teams.

iv been listening to this for ages
But i cant understand why the pundits are getting so much flack.
This has been an absolutely shocking year for the gaa on both codes. Matches are a poor standard with some kind of a stupid incident in nearly every match. Be it mc cann or mc mahon but if you take last sunday as an example shur we had only 10 mins of excitement regarding football the rest of the match is basically summed up by NIGGLE and off the ball incidents. I cant blame the pundits for their negativity when there is so little positivity to discuss.
The days of talking about brogan and gooch are gone and been replaced with talk of tactics and blankets
The can only comment on what they see in front of them and lets face it whats in front of them is poor.
The core skills of the game are gone now cause every time a player gets the ball he is swarmed by 4/5 lads.
Thats just the way the game is gone but we cant complain then when these pundits have nothing to talk about and need to talk about something or else we just get silence.
There is few gut busting runs cutting through the defenses resulting in a great score from out side of the boot .. its been replaced with a chess game of breaking down a defense. 14 men in their own half
pulling and dragging ..

Our game has changed personally i think for the worse , others will say they love the defensive aspect thats just horses for courses but football is now an ugly game to watch. I for one would love to see it go back to 15 v 15 and let the best team win but now adays its a game of stop the opposition rather than win your self. And with that comes the negativity that we see from the pundits. Dont blame them for talking about what they see blame the game for giving them nothing good to talk about it.
