WildPundit, is that the best you can do after your earlier post, claiming that the umpire had a bet on Limerick. Disgraceful stuff. Otherwise, the silence here is deafening and says it all really. These officials made an excellent call in very difficult circumstances and that's all that players and real supporters can ask for.

There must've been a small hole in the net. Ball is traveling so quick it's impossible to see

Good call pieman.I was only going on the Sunday Games coverage, and didnt expect our "expert" pundits to get such a big call wrong.I havnt seen the coverage that show it was definately a goal yet,but it looks like the umpires made the correct call.Apologies.

Indeed the umpire did make a good call. I don't think anybody on here needs to eat humble pie. We were not at the game and the only camera angle that we were shown, shows the ball going wide. It still appears that the ball is going wide (on the original clip). Given that it was not the first time it happened, it is natural to be critical. When people make massive mistakes they get criticised. In this case he didn't but we were made to believe that he did.

Nuts. Apologies to the umpire concerned, I jumped on that bandwagon also. In fairness, not being there, most of us could only go by what we were shown (and told) on TV. But I've got to eat humble pie regardless, the umpire did his job.
However, I still think the standard (or at least the role) of umpires at inter-county level needs to be looked at. The number of mistakes made by umpires at inter-county level hurling makes it more difficult to give any one umpire the benefit of the doubt. And this umpire deserved the benefit of the doubt.

Well done to Paud and his umpire.... the worst decision so far this year by an umpire/ref was Joe Cannings goal V Laois...a square ball even though he was outside when he scored it.

Whatever about the standard of umpiring, the standard of posting is on HS truly appalling.

The number of big decisions fellas get wrong while typing is disgraceful & will lead to the end of posting as we know it.

Not good enough when umpires are putting so much effort in to have some eejit cost you your reputation.

At this level it simply isn't good enough.
