Is it a huge incentive for Cork or Kerry to win

Would I be right in saying mayo would be better off losing to sligo?

No I don't think so...win Conacht and we are back in Croke Park in a quarter final v a qualifer team. Loose and we have to play a qualifer first and then possibly Dublin, Kerry or Donegal in a quarter as opposed to a semi final against a big gun. Direct route is always best.

Kingdomboy, they would go into round 4b qualifier which means they would meet Connacht champions in Q-final.

Assuming Kerry won Munster, Donegal would be on the opposite side of the draw.

So it would be potentially a Mayo v Donegal Q-final and a potential Semi final or Mayo/Donegal v Dublin, Tasty stuff!!!

It's a good point AthCliath but I honestly believe there is enough passion there already without looking at the route the loser is facing. I doubt if it will be on their minds before or during the game. Only after the game or the next day will that eventuality sink in. No one wants a 50/50 game in a QF, including Dublin, you'd prefer and expect to have to deal with that in a semi or a final.

That would be tasty for sure and would be a massive incentive for Monaghan to try and win the ulster final. So if Donegal and Kerry lose there provincial finals then you could possibly have a Dublin v Kerry and mayo v Donegal quarterfinal and the two winners meeting in the semis oooooh that would be class.

At the end of the day it would be better for each team to win but it is not the end of the road for the loser and no guaantee of anything for the winner.
2010 still rankles, Kerry beat Cork in an absorbing Munster Semi Final yet Cork won the AI.
Kerry have won the All Ireland through the back door too so to be fair losing the Munster final or any provincial final is not the end of the world.

I am going to go to the game and will shout on Kerry but if Kerry lose, there wont be any sleep lost either.

as you can see I am all for the end of provincial championships!

Class, and a damn hard way to win an All Ireland!! The direct route is always the clearest way forward, so lets hope we have enough in the tank to keep Cork at bay next week!!!

I am with you woops. As Hugh Hunt says, we have not won a knock out game at senior level since 1999. The game will be good enough as nobody wants to lose. However, we will not lose too much sleep if we lose. It is not end of championship and we will both almost certainly be there.

Another cakewalk in munster for the Kerry region, another handy path to the all Ireland series for the Kingdom!
