The handicap betting is Offaly -8 Kerry +8. Hard to disagree with that.

Best of luck to Kerry today. Hopefully ye'll finish off the job odds or no odds.

Come on the kingdom. Even if we win I'm sure the GAA will find away to keep us down.

Spirited display by Kerry. They were going well up until Offaly had a man sent off. Offaly were fresher over the last quarter. 6 day turnaround wasn't fair or ideal. Any county would need games at a higher level to progress. Anyways we are where we are. Onto the Christy Ring Cup and the chase to get into the Provincial Qualifier Group.

"I thought the divisions of 8 were the right job. Most of the moaning was from the division 2 runners-up. The solution there should have been for 2 up and down, with the relegated taking their medicine. In football, counties have gotten on with it upon relegation to division 3."

Funny enough, Eamon O'Hara said on the Sunday Game last week that the football league might have to look at the current hurling league format because of the gap in standards that exists betweens the divisions.

By the sounds of it, Kerry gave a very good account of themselves. Offaly weren't that far off the pace in 1b, the managed a draw with Limerick, so to be on level pegging with them after 50 minutes shows that Kerry would be capable of mixing it in 1b. The performance is all the more impressive given Offaly had been playing at a higher level for the duration of the league, and Kerry had only 6 days to prepare the game. I'm really looking forward to the Christy Ring this year.

Also, congrats to Donegal who appear to have won their promotion/relegation match today (and won well), and secured promotion to Division 2. Great to see the county's hurlers continue to progress, bodes well for their upcoming Nicky Rackard and Ulster SHC campaigns.

why did the game have to be played on Saturday, why now next week?

It's a fair question. Once you get over the ridiculousness of the play-off, the play-off should have been played next Saturday on a hurling weekend. Any team winning their level having to enter a play-off should be given 2 weeks to prepare for the game. A motion for Congress if any club or county are willing to put it forward!
