Letter from the St Coman's Club Hollymount to the County Board was circulated today to all clubs , outlining their break up of the arrangement ( not an amalgamation according to the letter). \will be discussed at county board level and then probably both clubs will go their separate ways. ITS GOOD NEWS FOR BALLINROBE AS THEY SEEM TO HAVE SECURED THE SERVICES OF RAY CONNELLY AS SENIOR TEAM MANGER FOR 2013.

From what I have heard the hollymount side want to register the club as st comans, for a number of reasons, but still play under the name hollymount-Carramore but Carramore side won't go for that for some reason so Hollymount pulling the plug

Things should become more clear after tonights co board meeting.

Psyed below is what was posted on the mayo gaa website which seems to confirm that there is definitely something going on in relation to this.however it does not mention holly/carra specifically.however I'm struggling to think of too many more clubs this could pertain to considering there has been a cloud of speculation of this particular amalgamation

"Due to unforseen circumstances and the changing of some amalgamated clubs the 2013 Championship draws scheduled for next Monday night has been postponed and will now take place on Monday 25th February at 8.00p.m. in Elverys MacHale Park"

From what I can recall it was an "arrangement/amalgamation" the was passed unopposed at County Board level. In fact it was put through with the greatest expediency. It suited Hollymount because they were heading for Junior football. I would reckon that this "arrangement " will be reversed with the minimum of fuss. Of course the Hollymount club have people in high places in side the County Board.!! Oddly enough the amalgamated unit didnt challenge for the Intermediate title at all,and in fact the B team failed to fulfill all their games in the junior championship !!

You're spot on there Trixy re people in high places in the Co Board. The draw for the Championship has been postponed because the notice for the draw was sent out in error !!! . If other less influencial clubs did not have their affairs in order they would not be shown the same level of tolerance.

Speaking to people from the area suggests the majority are happy as they are playing under Hollymount/Carramore but a couple of individuals are pushing for the club to be called St.Comans (which I believe is Hollymounts original name)! Looked like the have/had a making of a nice team too! Wonder what will happen to their under-age if they do split??

Well it appears to be a right cock up alright but what are ye proposing? That the club(s) be left out of this year's competitions are say "tough luck lads" - that would do more damage than good in my opinion.

YEW TREE No one suggested throwing them out of competitions. Thats not on the agenda at all. The dogs in the street know that the "joining" was in Hollymounts favour as they were running short of players. As it stands, as a "joint" entity, they are still no more than an average intermediate club. They wont win the Intermediate championship this year.

I was speaking to someone from Hollymount today and while it may have started with 10 or so people not happy with the joining up it has now grown to a lot more. Over 50 were at the EGM and wanted the Club to go back on their own and there are more in the wider community not happy with the joining up. As with all Clubs there are plenty not getting actively involved or taking sides as it may harm their business or personal relationships but will row in behind what ever club is there. Holly/Carra club are trying to say its only a few individuals not happy but think the wider Mayo Gaa community now know that this is not the case as it wouldn't have got this far. Their statements to the media came across a bit sad. It seems like a bit of a mess to be honest and I wouldn't put too much money on Hollymount or Holly/Carra to win intermediate this year!!

One think I wouldn't agree with you Trixy is that the joining up suited Hollymount more than Carramore. If the Joining up didn't happen Carramore was going to be wound up so the joining up kept them alive, while the year before the joining up Hollymount got promoted from 1C to 1B but I agree with you that they would be finding it hard to keep their intermedaite status over the next few years.

From what I've been hearing the problems can be sorted out easily within this club if the people at the top table stepped aside

I see the South Mayo O Mara cup fixtures are out from the county board and it only refers to Hollymount....ie Davitts V Hollymount. No mention of Carramore. Have they now split??

There are very sensitive issues as regards this matter. It is difficult for outsiders to fully grasp where the problems are. I say leave them alone to sort it out. What is a problem though is the delay. These matters should be sorted before convention. All I know is that there are great GAA people in both areas and I wish that it is sorted without it being too divisive. We need all clubs to be strong.

The Hollymount/Carramore AGM that was to be on tonight has been called off on instruction from Croke Park and word has it that there will be a Hollymount AGM on the coming weeks so going by that they are no longer together. Pity it was run so badly over the last 2 years because if it was ran correctly by better people it could have been a success.

Seems the problem is theres too many Hollymount people looking at past glories rather than the future!!
