Replying To Pope_Benedict:  "Turlough have been 'fancied' for some years now, and then it gets to semi-final stage next October!, and you usually find that they're nowhere to be found."
Well they are getting more experienced every year and with 5 players on the Galway panel has to help, they had 9 scorers Saturday.

Jamie Ryan was untouchable yesterday for Loughrea. Himself and Niland were the two big performers for me outside of the county set up.

Hopefully these lads get brought in. I think it would be great for the county. With all these injuries and the lads preforming well with the clubs, they should get a look in with the county.

Good showing from the weekend. Players that stood out for me who are not on the Galway panel were Jamie Ryan, Evan Niland and Kevin McHugho. Both the first two were exceptional from placed ball. McHugho played a 6 for Larkins and really steadied things up for the Woodford men. Jarlaith mannion also impressed - he is an exciting hurler and looks dangerous at every opportunity. Championship is wide open, looking forward to the next round of games.

Jamie Ryan was electric yesterday 1-4 from play- most of which was scored marking Paul Killeen so against top quality player. Killeen wasn't bad but Ryans pace was too much for him at times. deserves a look in with Galway.

Replying To galway19:  "Evan Niland cant be far away from getting a call up. Exceptional skill level makes up for lack of size and he has unbelievable wrists. 13 points yesterday, machine on the frees. He was excellent in the u21 county final in dreadful conditions and was a stand out for NUIG against a lot of the Limerick lads playing for Mary I in Fitzgibbon semi final."
I think Cathal Derven 35yrs scored 1-10 in the same match as 21yr old Evan Niland 0-13!!

In fairness we seen what a "quality player" P Kileen was against Wexford and Waterford in the League. ..... far from it!!!

think he around 23. was always very light but has bulked up a bit. still light as compared to most intercounty hurlers but his pace is unreal. top class finisher also. Think galways forward line could do with some pace in it for variation

Strange he was overlooked, mgt seemed to have gone very much with younger players, i.e. Kevin Cooney and Blehane and neither really performed well in the league, plenty to come from Cooney though I'd say, not so sure about Blehane, very hit and miss even with the u21's last year.

Interesting to see how he does in the next round of games.

Certainly keeps putting his hand up, was well able to get stuck in at u21 last year as well, great to see so many options.

One swallow never made a summer...consistency is the thing with Jamie Ryan let him do it for 3 or 4 games and then maybe he would be worth a look but certainly not on one game. Sean Linnane really did well last weekend have to say he lead ahead of Sean Loftus who is not himself which is concerning.

Was very impressed by Clairnbridge Sunday....they would beat most of the teams in Senior A!! Think they are my dark horse for the Co. title this year!

Not sure why they should be a dark horse, unlucky not to beat Thomas's last year.

I guess it's because Senior A would be considered a better level of hurling compared to Senior B

Jamie Ryan had a solid 2018 (48 points from seven games. (35 points from frees). Don't think consistency has ever been an issue with him. Hard to know if the step up to county is a step to far but for me he has certainly deserved a look in the last few years.
