Replying To Hurleybuoy:  "This team of kids have a number of players doing inter/leaving cert currently right, this has to be a hard time for them?? The limerick minors have come across as a well oiled machine so far in the Tipp & Cork games (lets forget about w'ford game for now) and i have a feeling they will come out fighting in Cusack park on Sunday. There were a few of us watching the warm up in the Gaelic Grounds Sunday, one commented (who would be better versed that me in this field) that he couldnt get over the standard of preperation, drills, conditioning and most importantly communication between Mgmt/Selectors and players. They have coached these kids up through the Academy, and arent on a wage for it BTW and it was clear to see that they all have a mutual respect for each other too. People talk about there being "Heart" in the Senior team, well you need not look as far as the Seniors for that, its starting us in the face with the Minors. I hope Limerick turns up to support our Minors on Sunday, they 100% deserve it."
Fair play and well said. You can really see the results of the academy really showing through now; young players who have been reared on playing the game in the right manner, using the ball to the benefit of each other and the team. When you see the size of the playing pool like I do in cork and compare it to what is in Limerick , you realise what you are getting out of the academy in limerick is outstanding - long may it last. Best of luck to them all on Sunday

Very enjoyable match yesterday and this team have a real inner belief in them against a good Clare team and a big crowd which was great for all the minors to play in front of. Bob Purcell was motm for me fine hurler and a physically imposing lad for his age. Well done to players and management and good luck July 1st.

Congratulations to the Limerick Minor Hurling team yesterday. Absolutely delighted for that win in front of such a huge crowd & with a tight game to the very end their composure was vital.
Purcell, Herlihy & Coughlan were outstanding and are a credit to the team. Looking forward to a head to head with Tipp in the Munster Final and I certainly think this team will go even futher than that with some silverware.

Well done Limerick minors a good result and bounced back well after the Waterford game. We might have had a bit of luck with the goal and Cathal O'Neill intercepting the puck out for the winning point. Bob Purcell has improved with every game and I like the go of midfield Kirby and O'connor. Its absolutely brilliant to see our minor teams the last few years doing so well.

Hard luck to all concerned today. Time now to regroup this championship is far from over and players are lucky they get a chance to prove that today's performance does not reflect how good this team is .

Well lads and Lassies limerick Minor Hurlers are still invoved in the All Ire series and although we lost to Galway we still can get to a semi final to join our senior stars .. Beat kk on saturday and we are in the last four with Tipp , Galway and Dublin and we could have another crack at beating TIPP or GALWAY and if we get Dublin who are Leinster champions then that is another challenge but one the lads wont shy away from , the previous performances against Tipp and Galway were disappointing but not reflective of this team as Limk are much better than that and they would relish another go at one or both of them....
So lets go to Thurles on saturday for a 3 pm throw in and beat the cats for a second time in a week and help this minor team get to Croke Park and see where it goes from there... they deserve our support as much as the seniors and the 16th man ( woman and child ) can make all the difference , i wouldnt expect to see many kk supporters there but you never know....see yee there on Saturday...COME ON LIMERICK.

Can't make it to Thurles on Saturday but wish the young lads all the best v KK a semi final spot would be a huge achievement for this young squad the experience they would gain from playing in Croagh pairc would be very valuable in the future.
Big games required from Bob Purcell and young Cormac Ryan , ye can win this one lads go for it.

Team, subs and extended panel below.
Captain Kyran O'Donnell, who had been injured, finally makes his first start of the year. Andrew Shanahan (Ahane) also comes in to the forwards. Only two changes from Tipp match.

If we win, we play Dubs in semi. Lose or draw and Cats go through.
Cats were poor against Gaillimh but we also have had a run of two poor outings.
However, if we play to our best today, we should go through.

Luimneach abú!

no limerick team should be getting hammered like that these days. What happened this team? topped Munster then proceeded to get hammered 3 times in a row. inexplicable really.

Easy now, these guys are just kids. Some are still U17 next year, think about it, only 16 years of age.
No youngster can or should be judged at this stage of their careers.
Can anyone remember how Henry Shefflin played at minor (u18 then) for Kilkenny.
We don't, because he didn't feature at minor for the Cats. There are many, many more examples like this in hurling.
These youngsters have got valuable games this year, beating Tipp,Cork and Clare in the process and got to play 3 times in Semple Stadium along with games in front of huge crowds in Ennis and PUC.
Hopefully this experience will stand to them over the coming years, I have no doubt that they will.

Would be interesting to tease out why the lads had 3 good games followed by 3 poor ones. However, most importantly - agreed 100% - excellent sentiments by you, Hamstring - well done!

Yeah, I agree, my finger was more pointed at management and the much vaunted, highly resourced academy. it's just disappointing. Especially when I know theres good talented lads there.
