Either way, the post is publicising the call for a boycott of hard working people's businesses, with the ultimate result being job losses (albeit part time jobs), loss of earnings to honourable business people, etc."

Hoganstand have published that statement on their main page so i don't see how someone posting it here will have any added effect. You can hardly give out to Admin for allowing the post when they have a full article on it themselves on their main page.

Pathetic. Embarrassing, Cringey, Immature, Childish. Just some of the words I would use to describe this absolute BS that im reading from a group of facebook pages that have now joined arms to fight a cause that is just trivial and silly beyond words. The individuals who run (some of) these pages are self centred and full of self importance. Their day to day activities LITERALLY revolve around how many followers/likes they can get, They are the type of people who will go out of their way to publicise and promote their pages by having their name printed on flags and tshirts but enough about them and onto the issue at hand. A life dictated by likes and follows. Sad, very sad.

Reading their statement today has left me ashamed but unfortunately, in no way surprised. In a time in recent years where the city of Dublin and nation as a whole has been crippled with substance abuse and genuine issues like the increasing homelessness figures and just general doom and gloom, There have been some feel good stories and one has been this incredible, humble, grounded Dublin team who have been an inspiration to many. They are preparing in the background for a huge game in 10 days time as they look to get through to another semi final in their drive for 3 all Irelands in a row. these fellas are a credit to themselves, their family, club, city and country. They create a feel good factor around the city where unfortunately apart from that there isn't much to hang our hopes on. When you see facebook pages come out and make a big deal about the banning of a huge bit of cloth, grown men and women, it just annoys me. It annoys me that this is even a thing.

Im so proud of where im from. Im proud of supporting this team. But the social media age of sport fans and their ****ed up agendas rile me. If there was one thing I could just, do away with in modern day sport, Its fan social media. Cause its petty comments and opinions only lead to this kind of crap. Official pages are the way forward, independent fan ran muck like the dubs pages that include the words "TRUE or REAL" in their names who are involved in this absolute disaster (with the exception of home of the dubs and we are Dublin who are decent) should just be obliterated.

Then don't buy from them. Simples.

But why boycott them?? What have they done to cause the flag ban to be imposed?

I think it's wrong the flag can no longer be displayed Waynol but I definitely agree with you in general about social media. Unfortunately you're p***ing in the wind, nothing you, me or anyone else can do about it, it's the world we live in, these days where far too many people seem to think, from inside their own bubble, that they're some sort of celebrity.

i dont buy them and never have.
the fact is there seems to be one rule for people on the hill and no rules for people in the stands.
there was a guy near me the last day whos sister was in the cusack stand and brought two kids they bought bottles and were allowed in their seats with caps on but he bought a bottle for his 4 year old and they wouldnt allow the child have the bottle cap.
they put a large screen in front of the hill yet not in front of any other part of the stadium to prevent pitch invasions, yet then allow every man woman and child on the pitch in grounds around the country. where is the sense in all that???
yet as a health and safety issue a flag can not be allowed move back and forth for what a mere five minutes yet they oversell the hill for most Dublin matches and have people standing in the aisle ways blocking access to the exits if anybody needed it, which sounds like more of a health and safety issue ????

Agree 100%. There's no justification for perimeter fencing at stadia in this age. We all know what can happen sadly.

Just heard on Drivetime that Stadium director Peter McKenna, has agreed to meet with Councillor Christy Burke and members of Dublin supporters clubs when he returns from holidays next week. Hopefully as hill16no1man stated the issue of overselling tickets for the Hill and the resulting blocking of the aisles, which is a genuine Health and Safety issue, will be discussed.

As regards the flag surely a compromise can be reached. It's part of the spectacle of big games to see large flags in Croke Park and other Stadia throughout the country.

Can ye make the flag flame-retardant by dipping it in something or get an alternative big flame-retardant flag? Would that even keep the health and safety people happy?

As for boycotting the Croke Park 'vendors', that should have been done a long time ago. Selling over-priced rubbish and be sure to check your change afterwards. I used to get water, chocolate etc from the guy that has the small shop just at the door of Drumcondra train station. They were doing it up the last time I was there. A fierce sound man.

I saw a post on Twitter I think it was saying the flag was fire retardant and had the certificate to prove it.

I can understand why the fire officer would deem it a risk but that's probably something that is a separate issue to the health and safety boys who don't seem to be too bothered about the overcrowding on aisles or some of the other hazards.
I know some of the stuff they go on with nowadays is ridiculous and stopping kids playing at half time on the pitches is another over the top measure some of these headers seem to love imposing. If the flag is treated and certified as fireproof then that might be one solution.

but for a leinster championship match they wouldnt even let you have a bottle cap for coca cola to bring up onto the hill, i seen a 4 year old child not be allowed the bottle cap on their coca coal. something is definatly wrong when you can buy the same bottle in the shop outside the hill and walk in with the cap on."

Fair play Wayno. Tired of the nonsense from these types of pages. My own county have a couple of these fan forums but I had to unfollow. The amount of pants that is talked is beyond belief. Each person trying to prove to the other how big a fan they are. Most of them wouldn't know their arse from their elbow.
