Where to next for Meath?

It's my belief that he won't stay on. If the championship has told us anything in Ros and other counties of Connacht , it's that there is a huge chasm between Mayo and the rest with only Galway making inroads at present. It nothing personal but I would be of the opinion that Evans has brought this team as far as he can and he has brought them far in the league but the real real hard stuff starts now . Our championship performance was as flat as a pancake and that's the ultimate judgement.

Can those including committee explain the value of stability? How can regression equal stability?
Few facts, worst ever defeat to dubs, first ever losses to Tyrone and Armagh in championship football, first ever defeat to Westmeath in provincial or championship (after been 10 points up) failing to get promotion from easy div 2 and proclaiming afterwards to have no regrets.
How is this stability?? Honest question. I do have faith in clubs to do right thing, lets hope for the sake of Meath football they do.

Eamon O Brien had the backing of the delegates but he was put to the sword by the delegates. Since Dublin humiliated us last year we
have simply been appalling, we are in a downward trajectory and now the county board is trying to turn us into the new Offaly. The fact that Ratoath
absolutely dominate the panel is crazy stuff. Peadar Byrne dragged Ballinlough to the ifc and I tell you what even at this stage of his career I would rather see him sitting on the bench than Joey Wallace. Its time to go Micko you are no Sean Boylan and any comparisons are madness.

Atta. Look mod is a extremely nice guy, maybe too nice to be a intercounty manager.
But this situation cannot and must not be allowed to continue. Atta id go further back and say only the clock beat them Kildare would have won last year, it is inexcusable to have a team dead on their feet after 50 minutes year in year out and then come out with embarrassing lame excuses. It is not personal i just feel he is out of his depth.

I have to be honest and agree that the Kildare game was a carbon copy of the Westmeath game. Only difference was Kildare did not manage to get a goal, otherwise they would have won, they wasted a few goal chances late on in that game.

Is that true about Giles leaving? If so, it's difficult to see how MOD can be left unless he has new selectors already on board. Not surprised that the CB backed MOD, and I'd still like to know what this famous 5yr plan is. Regardless, and before anyone says it, I know it's a long way off, Div 2 is going to be much more difficult next year. Considering our recent record you'd have to worry about our survival prospects never mind promotion. If he does stay in place (which seems likely at the moment), I hope he gets someone alongside who can get 70mins out of the players.

I cant believe that this is the best possible solution which the Chairman, together with the County Board Executive, can come up with on the advice of the Steering Group of Sean Boylan, Gerry MCEntee and Colm Orourke. The Meath senior team, which continues to decline, badly needs the best of their combined efforts right now to arrest this decline. The team in the last 3 years lacks stability, to the extent that, among other things, few players have played in the same position for more than two consecutive games and results reflect that compared to say Westmeath and Fermanagh recently.
I really want to believe that the Executive have some brilliant well-thought out idea for Meath which eludes the limited capacity/thinking of yours truly. (Btw I know that Joe Schmidt got a new contract recently which will mean he's unavailable for the next 2 years). If Mod or anyone else (as an intercounty manager) even had Eamon Fitzmaurice, Jim Gavin & Jim McGuinness as his combined Selectors, unless he is Willing and/or Capable of harnessing their expertise and implementing it, the team will invariably fail to achieve its potential and cold hard results will reflect that.
Its down to the club delegates now on August 10th to ensure that the Chairman and County Board Executive give the appointment more appropriate consideration.

Apologies Ziggy, mea cupla
Just checked Hoganstand/ Meath article of 11 March 2015 re setting up of Meath Football Steering Group which outlines their remit-see link here http://www.hoganstand.com/Meath/ArticleForm.aspx?ID=233527 It doesnt mention anywhere about an advisory role for the Senior team which is disappointing for the immediate future of Meath GAA's most prominent team. Seems their main role is just up to U21. Would Sean Boylan be asked his opinion as Director of Games? Anybody know?

I confidently predict MOD will not be manager in sept.2015 unless club delegates decide so. My money will be on a defeat for him if MOD lets it go to a vote. I stick to my guns he will resign shortly! A wise man once said "paper will not refuse print"
