Where to next for Meath?

Ok you's make good points lads, I'd actually like to see Geraghty getting the job and it seems like he has enough experience to at least give him a go. Also yes some of the lame excuses of late really have got under my skin, I can't stand a team making up excuses, it truly is the road to nowhere, and yes, I'd love to see Meath properly hated again, that'd be sweet :-)

Couldn't imagine Graham making the kind of excuses MOD is.

Séan Kelly is leaving the panel regardless of MOD position next year by the looks of it

I want to wish Sean well and thank him for his services, not only this term but under eob too.
On another note i feel this is the end for mod, when your selector goes it would be hard to continue

Ye I'd like to think Geraghty wouldn't come out with excuses ziggy, him and Moyles could make a good team but we're a long way off that yet and we don't really know if they're interested.

I'd also like to thank Sean Kelly for his services over the last few years. It has to be said his stepping down doesn't look great for MOD although we don't know exactly why he's stepping away, it may have nothing to do with MOD. It'll be interesting to see if anything significant comes out of the next county board meeting in August but information isn't all that forthcoming from this CB so I wouldn't hold my breath.

You would have to say that his position is almost untenable now. It's time to put an end to this shambles of a setup and rebuild (yet again) for the good of Meath football. If that means ditching traditional football and ditching our Joey Wallace's in favour of more John Mc. Dermott types and playing defensive football then so be it. We need to get with the times before it's too late and we become a relic of the past.

I think we have to forget the past in many ways, certainly if we want to move forward, what is successful in the past is different to the needs to be successful today.

Is Eamonn O'Brien managing anyone this year? What has he done since leaving the Meath role?

JUST read article by ANTHONY MOYLES in MEATH CHRONICLE. It is 2 part....Part 2 next week. I hope part 2 is better than part 1 which i find disappointing? Just wondering what others think?

Read it too,but to be honest,he has a point and he doesn't want to blame managers and players in the local paper.

Nobull456,
Yeah i thought in part 1 Moyles said very little of note so Ill await what he has to say in Part 2. I dont want an exposé type article from him but I thought this first part was bland. Hopefully he will have some personal views on what he would like to see for the future next time. i happen to like his approach on Newstalk etc and especially his informed style on the 'hard Shoulder' podcasts with Niall Kelly

My main point would be if Anthony Moyles cannot see the ingredients that is missing from the team at present i hope he is NOT involved with the new management. However, you have a point, maybe he will say it as it is, and be more direct and less "bland" in part 2

lads with all this talk of "abandoning tradition" and "Adapting to the modern game" it sounds like everyone is beating around the bush about getting in a manager from outside the county who may know these systems that you're calling for.

I can't think of many mangers in the county with the knowledge to implement any of these styles of play some posters are calling for.

I think he can see it,he hinted cleverly at it in an article a few weeks ago.He is clearly been careful in todays column.

OK zIGGY I have not read that article or heard the Newstalk programme. So i await part 2 I hope, and expect new manager will be a Meathman The man is there i would think .Whoever he is i hope he is developed to meet the job requirements. As some poster said 3 wise men will take care of that....i hope !

If Kerry can adapt, well so can we and you will never see an outside manager there...

Don't think Moyles will be involved with Meath, involved with Newstalk and writing for Chronicle imagine one would not sit well with other, much the same for Colm O Rourke with RTE and Indo. Hopefully some decisions will be made when Count Board meet in August

Does anyone know the protocol for these situations these days ? I mean mod may or may not say he would like to continue, if he says no i suppose its pretty straightforward, however if he says he wants to stay does it go to vote on night?

I read Moyles's article and to be fair I would have a lot of time for Moyles, he made a few decent points and gave us a former players perspective of fan criticism. Now he was trying to hammer home the point that Meath fans expectations should be lowered, but I don't think our expectations are all that high these days or am I wrong?

Most of us thought we would make another Leinster final and surely that was justified because we'd made the previous 3 but there was no talk of winning Leinster or All-Irelands.
