Meathalltheway ,I love a positive person but there is only so often you can kick a dog before he bites you . Today Galway were missing the Corofin players and still won easy I was there to witness how poor it was. M'ODowd apology doesn't wash with me , it is one embarrassment after another . He should have went after last years leinster final and on todays performance nothing has changed .

Weak
Lacking game a plan (3rd season now)

Two of the smallest and lightest forwards to grace a pitch trying to move the ball and got dispossessed time and time again.

Defence sat off and galway had acres.

Not a hope meath deserved to win but my god they will not give anyone a run for their money.

Very concerned about this team. Just viewed results elsewhere. It could be a long frustrating spring

Didn't get to the game but was very hard to listen to it sounded really poor every time Newman was mentioned he was ether slashing the ball wide or been dis-possessed only heard Mc Mahon mentioned once or twice in first half wasn't sure if he was playing or not .. Newman and Bray are confidence players if the miss the 1st one or two you might as swell take them off...we seem to be back peddling at a rate on knots.

Promotion this year had and still has to be the main objective. I don't care if we get relegated next year from div 1, playing dubs Kerry mayo Donegal cork Monaghan would only bring this team on leaps and bounds. Now next year we will have armagh and Tyrone as just two to contend with. This year is our chance to go up, if we blow it then there has to be questions asked and the main one is has the past 3 years been a total waste???

We all know how O'Rourke, Keoghan, Reilly, Rooney, Gillespie, Tormey, Bray, Reilly and Newman can play on their day. I don't buy into this craic that we don't have the players. Its up to the management to get the best out of the players.

Royaldunne I agree with your sentiments, but it is getting harder by the match to be optimistic. Next saturday is vital now ! If the players and management have it at all they have to deliver now or else !!

+1

But why did county board not take action?
Last 4 real matches. V kildare after only playing for 25 mins kildare were unlucky not to beat meath
V dublin, the biggest shame to befall meath footbal in over a quarter of a century, add to that the whinging about bitegate and we see what type of manager we have.
V armagh , lost on sideline before ball thrown up
V galway , well we can read what happened.
I have decided before league game to write off 2015, concentrate on a new set up next year under capable management.

its to early to judge if we will be relegated or promoted but i do think that queeney and carroll would have been better options to start than mcmahon and wallace they to light and the other boys have more experience i think we will stay in division 2 this year around mid table and i would be happy with that because we would not be good enough to compete in division 1 also are away form is terrible what can we do to get the lads to play better in our away games next sat will be tough but kildare not great either and i would be expecting to beat them especially as we will be playing at home

I have to totally agree with the comments of other lads Wallace and McMahon to light when we played Dublin they were both thrown out of the way like little kids..Wallace can't kick the ball over from 20 yards he's that weak yet this manager maintains he gets a lot of possession's..time to have a serious look at d setup

Another epic failure ,but one game is not a leauge .Swap s bray for queeney at 11 . Mento at full back Bryan mc Mahon isn't going to cut it either .when is eammon Wallace and gillespe back ? Another loss and we in the pressure zone Kildare are also looking for there first win .

foreverroyal I agree with everything you have said . The leinster final last year was the lowest of the low . the result was bad enough but the whinging over the bit was the real sickner . I would have dropped Burke off the panel for showing his finger to the ref instead of doing what he should have done. I know one of our greatest players said it nearly made him sick to witness it . Against the Dubs of all teams to whinge .

Yeah to be fair,I have seen nothing in young Wallace to suggest that he should be playing..

Just back from Galway and I feel utterly frustrated. We have to have some serious questions over team management after that game. I honestly thought that we were showing some signs of improvement. I wasnt expecting promotion but I thought we were getting into the area where it might be possible. This was based on the 2nd half of the Dub game but the worry that it was more Dub easing up was probably correct.

We have to be careful scapegoating Wallace and McMahon but they really are too light for this level of football. Working hard, trying hard but going nowhere. Maybe they are shooting the lights out in training but last season proved that Joey Wallace is way off the physique for this level. There should be a minimum level of physique for this level and, unless the player is of a Colin Cooper/ Bernard Flynn level they should not be considered to start. I am just a little surprised that they are being picked ahead of S Tobin and D Bray. Michael Newman was poor but has not played much during the O'Byrne Cup and I would persever with him.

I think Menton should revert to CHB, Keoghan back to corner back. Paddy played well but his distribution like most of the team was at times poor. We are starting to rely on him for frees which is a bit of a concern.

Overall, Micko needs to continue to look out for players. Hopefully this is not the squad come championship.

I cant believe that people don't want us in division 1.
Please tell me when mod was given 3 years, was peoples expectations that mid table and yearly hammerings from Dublin was the height of your expectations? Well it wasn't mine. For me its promotion or go

Poor today! Looked like a team that had lead in the legs. Couldn't get around the pitch.
Newman fumbled too much, Stephen Bray wasn't near his as mobile as usual.
Unfortunately the two young midfielders were given a lesson, by O'Currain & Thomas Walsh. They just couldn't get into the game, and add to that that we couldn't win an argument never mind a breaking ball, when they did eventually break it.
Keoghan doesn't know how to play centre back. Move him to no.2, menton to no.6 and Tobin to no.7. Bryan Menton was poor today!
Young Conor McGill seemed outpaced & thought at times. But needs time.
Totally agree that Bryan McMahon & Joey Wallace are too light and don't add enough. However, I'd suggest that the pitch (which was terrible) wouldn't help their style of play- open running.
Graham Reilly looked wrecked even before the ball was thrown in. Couldn't get going at all, but booked for a tussle off the ball where his marker walked away cardless.
Andy Tormey also looked flat, but was coming into it, before he was black carded for a perfect shoulder. Unbelievable decision.
Paddy was the best player for us, and that speaks volumes for the rest, against an average team.
Can't see either getting promoted.

Glenny has seen a clink of light for our super poor hero Newman

I have seen the light I think meath have stumbled on a role for Newman

He cannot win a 70/30 ball really as a front man he may not be inter county standard but ........ Today when moved out to half forward he tried to get meath back into the game and passed the ball by foot well

He should be used to distribute the ball as a half forward

He did that well today.
