Senior hurling championship

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Kilmessan vs Dunboyne - Interesting one. Kilmessan will be out to prove a point after Dunboyne's big win in the last round. Kilmessan win.

Kildalkey vs Navan - Will be close up to half time but Kildalky should ease to a win in the 2nd half.

BHG vs Killyon - Blackhall will be up for it but Killyon are another team with a point to prove after last round - Killyon

Rathmoylon vs Trim - Trim to win well with Alan Douglas rumoured to be making his debut in this years championship. Mike Cole is missing after the red in last round. Rathmoylon to be relegated this year.

Kiltale vs Na Fianna - Kiltale to win at a canter

Wood vs Mill - toughest one to call this round. Bordsmill have a strong young team. M.Burke will give Cosh Flattery and co a tough day at the office but I think bordsmill have that extra bit of talent elsewhere on the pitch and should just shade it.

Is two yellows a ban or just a straight red? Also, Alan Douglas is back and also Joey Toole, serious scoring power in Trim now

Only a ban if you get sent off twice for two yellows. As far as I know. Trim Do look good but might be year or two too soon. That's just my opinion

Kilmessan under pressure now, didn't see that one coming with dunboyne with only half a team

Almost called it right. Kilmessan was the big shocker I think most people would not have predicted. Can they still qualify does anyone know? Always hard to back up a championship the following year but they know how. It will be interesting to see how they finish the year out.

Killyon will relish playing Kilmessan in next round which could decide who qualifies. Kiltale and Trim the teams to beat at mo. Trim very impressive last night against Rathmolyon in Kildalkey, Great atmosphere in the very impressive club grounds in Kildalkey. Surely better playing games there than the ghost town that is Pairc Tailteann!!???

Next round shall be very interesting, Killyon against Kilmessan which is do or die for Kilmessan and Trim against Longwood which is a massive game for both, Trim win and top spot is almost guaranteed and longwood in hope of securing second spot. Can't see Killyon or Longwood doing the business though, Trim have too much strength all over the field and too many scorers for the wood to handle and with Kilmessan there blend of class and experience should prevail

Kilmessan v Na Fianna- Kilmessan look very poor lately, will win this game by 10pts but won't get out of group.

Trim v Longwood- Trim not all they're made out to be, Killyon made them look ordinary in Davis Final last week. I'd give Lingwood a chance here even though they're terrible to watch. Longwood by 1pt.

Kiltale v Killyon- Game of the round, Killyon will play hard, high intensity hurling. Kiltale have being average so far. I'll take a punt on a Killyon win by 2pts.

Kildalkey v Boardsmill- Boardsmill should have beaten Longwood the last day but hit bad wides. Kildalkey have being unimpressive so far but look battle hardened and will be a very hard team to beat this year and we enter the business end of champ IMO. Kildalkey by 8pts.

Dunboyne v Blackhall Gaels- derby game between these two. Dunboyne going well and look good. BHG won't stay near them. Dunboyne by 7pts.

Rathmolyon v Navan O'Mahonys- Real relegation game here. Rathmolyon very poor, NOM fitness and strength might just get them over the line. NOM by 2pts.

Well my prediction of a Kilmessan win by 10pts was off. Kilmessan were way off the pace of a team capable of winning Jubilee. Anyone with predictions for only SHC games???

Alan Douglas proving his worth to Trim with 2-1 in the final minutes of longwood game! Longwood were their own worst enemies in the second half trying to pack their own half with 12 players!

Just don't understand longwood's mentality. It's like we go ahead and then we'll
defend for the remainder of the second half. This is hurling. U don't
need to work the ball in to score lads.

Killyon played well against Kiltale so fancy them to beat Kilmessan.

No dunboyne players in the team of the week? But ridiculous after some performances against Blackhall. Do these people even go to the matches?

I dont think there has been one dunboyne player on the team of the week yet. Having beaten killyon, champions kilmessan and rivals blackhall by 30+ points. Kildakey/Kiltale/Trim to win it out IMO. Giving kildakey the nod
