Big Coyne was just a ref this year as he got a knee injury early on that kept him out for season. Seen him sunday with his ol man on crutches after op, says he will be back for next year. He transferred to play senior football as Annes are junior team at beginning of last year and won Lancashire Senior Championship and Club All Britain.

He and 3 other uk born players have represented Lancs County Team over past 5-6 year winning the 4 in a row All Britains with Shane Goldrick, Rory Donoghue, Willie Ahern. This year they had many more with the 2 x Connolly Bros, Liam Kelly, Nathan Plant. And should of had Colm Conway and Lee Gavin on panel

Oisins this year had 2-3 Uk born players

Lawrences 4-5

Annes have the most when they can field with 10-15 players all UK born

2nd generation UK born footballers is big in Lancs and all credit to the clubs with underage teams. The future is certainly bright

Last UK born player to win Lancashire Championship - Declan O'Leary of peters in 2010 or Shane Goldrick or Rory Donoghue in 2003 for Lawrences?? Dont think there was any for Mitchells in 3 in a row 2007-2009 or for Oisins in 2006

If Brendans win on Sunday, It is a massive credit to them with the amount of uk born players. Massive acheivment and great for UK gaa.

Sean McDermotts of Warwickshire have been winning senior championships with UK born lads over the last fifteen years. Although they were beaten in this years final, think nine of the lads that started for them came through their underage system.

Fair play to all clubs for sticking by these young lads and giving them the chance. Some clubs discard them easy enough when a few lads turn up from Ireland, but these lads aren't going to be around for ever.

Some great games this weekend. St Peter's lsing to Mitchel's was a big shock. Must make Mitchel's favourites for that Lancs now. I don't think Scotland and Yorks are going to be as close as some on here are suggesting. I predict Connolly's and Cuchulainns's will each win by a good bit.

What's the word out there on Glen Rovers from Watford, all the talk seems to be directed towards the so-called bigger teams. The inter county championship is a reasonably good barometer for current form and Hertfordshire were finalists this year. Is it fair to expect that the champions of that county should therefore have something to offer? Any views?

so we know the final 7

heston v mitchells birmingham
winners play
st nicks or mitchells liverpool

dunedin play cuchullains
winners play Glen Rovers

i'll go for heston v dunedin in the final but not much to be in all games its probably as open as it has been for years

Have any side from Hertfordshire won the All Britian since it was reformatted in 2005? Historically Lancashire are the strongest! John Mitchells won it yeserday and know all about the AB, would probably be early favs but very hard to tell!

Glen Rovers will struggle, playing their county final in early september means they probably wont have played many competitive games since where as others countys are peaking now going into the AB! dont think a Herts team has gone further than semi finals but i may be wrong!

will be an interesting set of games one way or the other, hard to see too many upsets to be fair. I wouldn't rely too much though on form over the last number of years - players in Britain come and go all the time and therefore the face and ability of a club really can change from year to year. With that i still believe its worth considering the form from this summer to gauge what might be. What dates are the semi's on does anyone know?....and what of the eventual winners? - is there a trip to Ireland in the next round after the AB final? or would a fixture be more likely to be played here in Britain?

It's good to hear from Cappakee again! I do believe I called the 3 winners correctly, if not the margins. Mitchel's L'Pool must be favourites. Brendan's were much fancied, and Peter's can't have been that bad considering how good they were last year. Final will be Mitchel's vs the winners of Cu's and Connollys - which I reckon will be a tight game.

hard to see past the liverpool team watch them a few times this year and they are strong all over the pitch with good subs on the bench. saying that i have not seen any of the london team they could be dark horses. Capakee herts got a good draw this year .

havent seen mitchells at all this year since last years final v peters, know they have added a few but also lost a few

i believe heston's forward power may just edge it, hayden, kelly and mcgoldrick are a strong trio, while mulligan and molloy on the other hand will give any defence problems

should be a cracker of a match if both teams overcome their quarter finals

Don't think there is a latest, 3 games this coming weekend.

I'll got for wins for Connolly's, John Mitchels from Liverpool and Heston.

Heston sneaked it by 1 point in awful conditions.

Any other results from weekend games??

tribesman_10 (Galway) - Posts: 96 - 28/10/2013 11:18:05    1506675

Its not a surprise CuChulains are out, they were lucky enough to win the Yorkshire Championship by all accounts so there was clue's there. They've lost several of their top players that won the All Britain 2 years ago.

All 3 games went as expected with Heston edging John Mitchels Birmingham in a close game. Hestons game against John Mitchels Liverpool could go either way while I expect Connolly's to beat Glen Rovers.
