Sligo v Kildare

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I would start Johny Davey and O'Hara as a third midfielder

In my opinion, Taylor has no pace and didn't look fit and should have been taken off long before he was last day, I wonder would he make a converted full forward

Green wants to vary kickouts, a blind man could see that he was hitting the biggest Mayo midfielder the last day

We badly need to compete at midfield and get quick low ball into Kelly.
Kildare will want crowding the extra time could help us and we really have to test them early

We need to study the Limerick Kildare match as they limited Kildare to very few chances and for better shooting could have won

You mean kildare for better shooting the amount of wides we should have put over and if johnstons was counted it wouldnt have went to extra time.
I was behind I thought johhnstons went over so did 1 umpire the other didnt same ole story with the umpires.
Just a question how do sligo fans feel about the venue do you want to travel again to Dr hyde park where sligo lost only two weeks ago or do you feel they would want to put the wrong right in the same venue?
Hard to know who will be in midfield again Rob kelly is doing a good job and mick foley did do a good job v limerick overall he was great v limerick if hugh is fit might be worth giving him a chance and then mick foley could go back to the backs where I think suits him best.
I hope kildare put in a big performance its in them and I hope this is the weekend it all clicks to get us over this hurdle.
Come on kildare!

Looking at some of the posts here are very good but some very stupid, where people looking at the same game I was looking at, Brendan Egan was poor in my opinion, hardly touched the ball Alan costello gave the ball away every time he was on it, Mark B was our best player in the half forward line and David Maye was very quite apart from his 45s, Marren had an off day if i recall he had 4 wides and one dropped into the keepers hands.

There need to be a few changes but not much I would start O hara at midfield and if he gets tired take him off and you can always bring him back on. Johnny Davey needs to play instead of Mcgovern, his pace alone will terrify Kildares backs if he starts running at them.

I think Coen has to play it was an outrage he only got 5 mins the last day when the game was there for the taking thats when we needed the speed and shot selection to be right and Coen would of been the right man on the ball for that, I would drop egan for Coen, If you remember last year Coen tore them asunder up in Newbridge. Coen Marren Kelly full forward line

lilywhite, what difference does it make where it's played, we lost to Mayo, it's over.
This is a new game with all to play for. Personally I'd rather go back to the Hyde than travel further and I think its 50/50 for Sligo and Kildare fans.
So long as the ref is "good" and doesn't influence the result like Navan when we player Armagh, may the best team win!!

Geez your not goen to play the way Limerick did 14 men behind the ball for 50 minutes I hope. It a fair ould spin to Ross that €40 on petrol then another €45 for tickets and at least another €36 for grub for Gods sake let at least play a bit of football and may the best team win .

I hope you were joking about looking at the Kildare Limerick tape for tips how to play Kildare cause if your going to use those tactics Ill be asking for me money back 50 minutes of a 14 man defensive wall is hard to endure and at 40e for petrol 45e for tickets and at least 36e for grub that will be mas o menos for both sets of supporters lets at least come with the attitude to play football. Ant may the best team win.

just because we'd prefer sligo over kildare we are immature??? I prefer teams with players from their native county thank you very much.

Com'on sligo!!!

Bit of a contradiction there Graham, you are saying you like teams with players from their native counties and in your next statement you say come on Sligo....Alan Costello is not from Sligo.

Its rather different in the case of Alan Costello, he moved to co sligo, and also played for sligo IT, unlike that of a certain cavan man!!

Haha no surprises there, lovely neighbours we have. I can't see any Kildare players/supporters losing any sleep over who Meath and in particular Laois are backing.
Good luck on Saturday lads, may the best team win!

To Sligo fans, I hope it's a good game, play it however you feel you have to and whoever wins wins. To the Royal/Queen's County caball, you're making an absolute holy show of yourselves, pleading with every County we play to beat us, telling them we're no good - though amazingly we're still in the Championship. You're an embarrasment to your Counties. Patethic!

Best of luck to Sligo - keep the Connacht flag final flying - I think the game is 50/50 - hopefully ye can shade it.
