Are you for real you said on hoganstand after the cup final that Mccauley hadn't played well for the last year and you didn't want him starting the next day now your saying "oh I only said he nearly cost us the game last weekend" your not being honest, Jim is trying new lads out in a first round league game taking off Bastick Cooper and Costello was not the losing of the game there was only a kick of ball between both sides all afternoon and it could of gone either way but Cork fair play just edged it , it happens but for you to say I wont travel anymore cause of Jim trying new kids is a disgrace you should be ashamed of yourself for that comment, if that's your attitude after a first round league defeat you probably should stop going to matches with that fickle attitude.

1689166 Lads its a pity we cudnt end that losing streak Leeside, but hill i think your going a bit overboard on this(to be fair you did travel so i can understand your frustration).Making those changes,in hindsight, looks like poor decision making, but those 15 minutes may well stand to some of them young lads like McHugh who came on.It is good to see Jim trying out lads in the heat of battle.Being the canny operator he is,hell have learned a few things about some of them.Im sure it is good for the moral of all these young lads who got a run out. They know their not just training to make up the numbers. Have to say i was never a fan of Bastick(although forever grateful for setting up Brogans 2nd goal v Mayo).Decent engine but very limited in the skills department.I wouldnt fancy him v Aidan O Shea or David Moran. They would clean him out.We need a better man to go with McCauley.I have full faith in Jim Gavin.Yesterday was but a blip in the greater scheme of things.I would fully expect us to beat Donegal and qualify for league semi.
not going overboard to be honest i made a point and clondalkin has taken that point to heart because mr gavin is a fellow club member. its one thing giving guys their chance im all for it but do they all need to be thrown into the deep end on the one day? we have seven league games, thats plenty of time to blood guys. the game was there to be won, id rather win the game and introduce guys like mchugh, fenton and so on next time out. if the same attitude is shown next saturday about not caring about the result then i wouldnt fancy us to beat donegal, as they clearly upped their game in the second half to win the game on saturday.

did you read my post? i said carthy and bastick deserved to start ahead of mccauley and that he nearly cost us the game against kildare you must have been up late watching the superbowl as your missing a fair chunk of it. yes i did also say last week that mccauley's form was poor all last year did i deny saying that? he was poor! you feel taking off three of our five experianced players on the pitch and throwing in 2 newcomers and a guy out of position wasnt the loosing of the game? yes cork kicked on simply beause they sent in kerrigan and hayes to win the game two experinced players who made an impact, its not rocket science. did i say i wont travel anymore to a game? show me where i said that please? what i said was it would put you off travelling to away games if the manager doesnt care about the outcome of the game! whats wrong with that point? if i bother to take time and money to attend the least i expect is the manager to try and win. my attiude your the one basically dismissing the importance of the league im the one who can see clearly that since 2010 we have given the league the respect it deserves and have profited in the championship as a result its dangerous going back to the days of the 00tys where we were not able to flick it on like a switch just like in 2012 where we played poor in the league and never got going in the chamionship apart from 20 minutes to go against mayo in the semi final.

Lots of people on here were blaming Dublin's demise last year to the fact that they steamrolled everyone last year and the subs were arriving on and kicking handy scores against beaten teams. The story was that they weren't used to having to come on and win a game.
Yesterday he created a situation where the subs came on and the failed to close out the game. A lesson learned for those players. Dublin will qualify for the semi finals if they want to. A very gutsy move by Gavin to create a game situation to test the young players out. He has obviously learned form last year. Some Dublin poster clearly haven't. Doesn't say much for Cork though.

great to see a Mayo win today playing football the way it's suppose to be played. I'd actually love to see Mayo win Sam this year great team that were robbed last year.
It didn't take long for the old chestnut about "playing football the way it's supposed to be played" to get an airing.
Would someone please tell me, who decided how football is meant to be played?
Rant over I agree with you about Mayo, the Muckross millions are on them this year.

Dublin v Donegal - Donegal on this weeks action look to be the ones taking the league more seriously. Derry v Kerry - Kerry- a long trip north but Derry look like they could struggle Monaghan v Cork - Monaghan just because they are at home. Be very close though Mayo v Tyrone - Mayo - going on yesterday anything other than a convincing Mayo win would be a shock
DIV TWO
Meath v Kildare - Kildare Laois v Ceavan - Cavan Roscommon v Down - Roscommon Westmeath v Galway - Galway
DIV THREE
Tipperary v Limerick - Tipp Wexford v Armagh - Armagh to win easily Sligo v Fermanagh - Fermanagh Louth v Clare - Clare looking good
DIV FOUR
Carlow v London - Carlow Wicklow v Leitrim - Draw Longford v Antrim - Longford Offaly v Waterford - Waterford to continue a very strong start to the season

Muckrosshead Clondalkins dig was aimed at us not donegal , saying mayo were robbed last year and football the way it's meant to be played but you see clondalkin in Kerry we are adaptable we can play and master any style of football which is why we are 37 times allireland champions and why the Dublin region only have 22 titles.

What dublin do from the line is totally out of cork's control. All they can do is turn up and play. And I believe they won, so I am not sure why this does not say much for cork.

To all counties who aspire to win the all ierland this year.
Defensive tactics are important. And if it encroaches on perceived notions on how the game should be played, then you have a decision to make about what sort of a year you are going to have.
I believe that the most direct football i saw last year was by Mayo. It is difficult to say how direct or otherwise Dublin are, as they didnt beat much on their way to the semis. Kerry can be direct, as they can be equally defensive. We beat Dublin with some defensive football, but I wouldnt have classed our performance that day as being dull or lacking in 'football' aesthetic, whatever that may be.
The real test will come when Kerry, dublin or mayo play each other this year. If any of these top 3 teams play defensive football in order to win at the expense of open football, then forever hold your peace, as Donegal will not be on the pitch on those days!!
Back to the issue of the thread, I think that the next day out we will have it tough v dublin. I will be there, and am looking forward to another day in croker.

Paranoid Joxer, moi???
I know well he didn't mention Donegal or blanket defences, it's just one of those lazy comments that gets thrown out there on a regular basis & it just gets to me a bit.
As for taking Clondalkin personally, you should know better than that. Clondalkin & myself have had many's a joust on here & I have nothing but respect for him. Granted he sees the world through a huge pair of blue tinted glasses, but he wears his colours on his sleeve, as do I, & I look forward to many's a scrap with him.

dublins demise? we lost one match against a team who played better on the day end of it happens. the subs last year started on sunday namely costello, o gara and rock and they contributed 11 points between them so you make no sense the guys that came on off the bench yesterday were having their first game in a dublin jersey some of them. learned what from last year as we had a 17 point turn around against cork in the semi final in league we hammered, derry in final then went on to beat laois by 11 points, wexford by 16 points and meath by 16 points then monaghan in the quarter final by 17 points hardly a bad year loosing one big game not much need to change in my view
