pretty surprised about the result between Westmeath and Laois I was fully sure Laois would win but Westmeath pulled it off starting to get worried about Galway going to Cusack park!!!!!!

I think both Dublin posters are taking a bit too much out of last week. Both make valid points and Clondalkin is correct that more was learned by the young lads in that defeat in contrast to coming on at the end of a rout.

But I'd agree with Hill that the manner of a couple of changes were disappointing to a degree. Particularly the Carthy change. And to a lesser extent Bastic. I didn't see where they added to the last quarter and in my view did not contribute positively to the aim of getting a result.

On another note the early form of Rock is encouraging and Carthy is ahead of Emmet O'C in my book.

Don't really care about anyone else

But I reckon Donegal by +1

very tight game but again with the amount of match winners currently absent from the Dublin panel... we're no world betters

Still a decent team with lots of promise but missing match winning game changing talent - that's going to cost us points in the NFL Div 1

Donegal will play to their absolute strength and that's going to cause this current Dublin team a whole lot of trouble

Yeah... I'd say Donegal will be making it 2 in a row against Dublin in Croke Park

They certainly will have ZERO fear of this current Dublin panel - they spanked a far better one not so long ago...

Hope I'm wrong but like the Cork game - we just didn't have the panel of players to beat Cork in the end, and in a similar fashion I can see the same logic having a big say once again against Donegal

I hear what you're saying jimbo, but I think this game is going to attract a big crowd of Dublin supporters who are going to be looking for a win against us.

Jim Gavin knows that a defeat here will not alone leave Dublin in trouble in the standings but will not go down well with the blue clad hordes.

The players will also feel they have a point to prove & I feel that a Dublin win is on the cards.

I do however expect a hugely enjoyable game & am really looking forward to the trip.

dont think jim gavins team selections so far will attract a big crowd
would have expected a big crowd this time last week for this game
but judging by the attitude shown last sunday towards winning or loosing the game
it wont entice anybody leaving it till the day to buy a ticket especially if its a baltic night.
there will only be about 6 or 7 of the guys who were on the 30 man panel last september
so cant see revenge for that game being anything this weekend as most were probably on the hill or stand watching like us.

Aye the final was bitterly disappointing alright, I still haven't watched it back and I deleted the Sunday game highlights off my Sky Box long ago.

You have to realise though, that despite our recent successes, Donegal wouldn't have a massive list of games that we reverently can look back on, unlike say the Dubs and Kerrys of this world. Last summer the talk wasn't of could Donegal win, it was more how much we'd lose by. So to triumph as emphatically as we did, against the Dubs, in their own back yard, will mean that it will forever live in the memories of Donegal GAA men and women.

Are you correct when you say that only 6 or 7 of last year's squad will be on duty this coming weekend? Shocking if true.

I seem to remember a certain Jim McGuinness being lambasted on HS a couple of years ago for "disrespecting" the league by not going all out to win it & having the temerity to say so.

Maroonforever, you need not worry. Westmeath were shocking. We were worse. We would still have won except for 2 red cards. Galway will win easily

I wouldnt expect either dublin nor donegal to show their full hand on sat night, although anyone who plays on the night will be giving it the big one.

If we win it, it takes a hell of a lot of pressure off us for the rest of the league, in that Dublin will have to and will up their game to stay up in division 1, and taking points along the way. would suit us down to the ground. I also think that for this reason, it is a must win game this weekend for both derry and tyrone.

So i will predict a very close game in croker on sat, u would b a fool to predict it.

Muckross you don't have to tell me I criticized Gavin for it last weekend so cannot be accused of double standards.
Mcguinness was only spouting that talk to paper over the cracks as they got annihilated by mayo a couple of months later. Its a dangerous game not taking the league properly.

Fair enough hill, This Sunday's Dublin selection will tell us a lot.

I can't agree with you about JMcG's "spouting" to use your description.

He made his statement about the league just after Donegal had won an All Ireland, were quite literally off the plane after a holiday & had not training or preparation done for the league. Hardly the same as Dublin this year.

As for being annihilated by Mayo "a couple of months" later it was all of 6 months later. In January all looked good & there were no cracks to paper.

No I'm afraid the two cases are different. JMcG had very valid reasons for not prioritizing the league. I'm not sure Gavin does.
