Dublin v Meath

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Maybe you's did take your foot off the gas but anyone in Croker on Sunday could see that a few Meath players were out on there feet, Shane O Rourke was a passenger for the last 25 minutes and everyone in Croker could see that also his midfield partner was in bits Kildare's two midfielders completely took over.

Well the second midfielder you speak of CD is Brian Meade , Meath player of the year last year and just back from cruciate injury, so yeah he tired but 3 more weeks he'll be grand plus we have flanagan to come on, one area I wouldn'tbbe worried about is the middle, Menton tormey biggy all capable of moving in if needed
Again it's getting to the stage where I'm looking at our weakness's and if I'm honest there is very little.

Clondalkindub is right some Meath players were running on fumes near the end. The good thing is it happened when Meath were comfortably in control and at least there's time to refocus for the next day. No doubt the fade-out will be looked back on and lessons learned. It also helps keep expectations at bay. Had Meath kicked on after going 12 points up, there might be different talk now.

Ah Royaldunne I know that about Meade and the same for O Rourke he's been out injured for a few years so it's only natural he would tire, Mdmc only gets going in the 2nd half so god love O Rourke and Meade they will be given a tour of Croke Park.

Would have to fancy Dublin for this. IF Meath are to win they would need to score goals (which I believe they can) AND prevent Dublin scoring goals (which I doubt)

CD I'd say one or both might tire towards end I'll agree with that but young flanagan is itching to make name for himself so he'll be brought on, but gillespie is a miss for sure c

Meath will give Dublin lot s , and will be fired up for this clash with the Dub s, who on merit are the no1 team, for everything for this year. can t see Dublin stopped, but if any1 can on their day it would be Meath,

Some meath fans getting carried away it happened the
the last time we beat the lillies after nobody thought we would. It was a great day beating kildare and hopefully the sign of good things to come but come on people it's dublin were playing were not going to have it so easy the next day or get a cheeky few goals. Nothing will come as handy from here on in. Now I believe in the team and believe we can put it right up to Dublin on our day but I just don't see how people can be so sure of a meath win after beating the lillies? Dublin are still too good imo and will have too much for us. I really hope I am wrong! But if we give them a good game I will be happy I am just dreading putting it up to them for 40/50 Mins and then loosing it an getting a serious hiding that's the fear!! All fingers crossed An Mhi abu

Beautiful Meath I wouldn't get carried away and would say that Dublin in all probability will win. But its not beyond all realms that Meath might just do it. Granted a lot would have to go our way for that to happen, but sure we can live in hope.

Yeah spot on RD but people are talking about meath winning with not much to go on apart from the kildare game yes league campaign want awful but still hard stuff at times. Then carlow well nobody could take much from that but this to me is just a mouthful too much to chew in saying that I can say I would fancy meath against any other teams I just feel like dublin are better than anyone else and it might just be too much for meath. I really hope the team go in with confidence there are a lot of young players there who will chomping at the bit to win this game so let's hope that passion and the hunger to win leinster will prevail! I will live in hope also :)

royaldunne I think ye have every chance, I think Dubs this year more than last year are taking Meath challenge very seriously. I was very impressed by your performance for about 50 mins against Kildare . My fear for ye would be tiredness. My fear for us is leaving ROC isolated too many times and get caught out early.

Beautiful Meath you are right. Meath had a stop start sort of league, great one minute dire the next (monaghan 2nd half armagh) but was robbed in Donegal good against laois and Down. Carlow nothing can be read into , dominated Kildare for 50 and then with a mixture of complacency and tiredness let them get within 5 points . it will need as mod said 73 min performance if we were to win and even with that Dublin could still win .
Athacliath the fact Dublin won't be as complacent as last two years is a worry , we have better team than either those years and if dubs rested on laurels this year I feel we just might nick it , but they won't.
Also totally agree on tiredness particularly in midfield area where we have two excellent midfielders but both have been out of action for a long time and both seemed dead on their feet near end of their involvement last day.
Look if everything goes to plan we have a right shout at a upset , the odds are crazy as I don't think there will be a kick of the ball between them for 60, but the last 10 is IMO the unknown.

And so it gets nearer, the game of the championship so far. Dublin rightly fav Meath confident. Who will prevail?
All very exciting stuff. Can't bloody wait.

I predict a damp squib of a game similar to the one witnessed in the Pairc last Sunday. Meath fans can eulogise all they want about their victory over a listless Kildare side last time out but the cold hard truth of it is that Dublin will win pulling up.

Huge gulf in class between both sides and no amount of playing it down by Dubs and playing in up in Meath will change that.

Dublin by 6+ in second gear. Expect a gear change from the Dubs in August.

Firstly no Meath supporter is eulogising or playing things up, and I don't see too many Dubs playing things down either. Unlike your bunch last Sunday I predict out lads will have a bit of "spine" about them. We may not beat Dublin, we have a chance of course but it will be difficult, but we will not roll over, surrender or embarrass our supporters with our performance, of that I am confident

Its a Dublin v Meath thread - its not about Cork.

I've read the posts in the thread and some have played down Dublin while others are predicting a win for Meath.

You mightn't like my opinion or agree with it but I didn't go slating your Meath players over being spineless etc just because your opinion happens to be different.

No intercounty player goes out to play a bad game and just because they had a bad day doesn't give anyone any right to brand them as spineless or accuse them of rolling over. They all don their county jerseys to provide us with the thrills and spills in any given game and I have huge respect for any player who takes to the field with their county regardless of where they hail from.

I just happen to think Dublin are better. That is all.

in fairness you came on here with a chip on your shoulder
if you felt dublin will win why not just say it?
you came on and started with its going to be a damp squid of a game and suggesting meath are way behind us
nobody is saying you will be right or wrong
but it came across like you were trying to make this a non event because the munster final dissapointed.

I happen to think that the game will be a damp squib because Dublin are vastly superior to Meath. Thats means I have a chip on my shoulder? Just because I came on here and state how I think it'll go? I'm still trying to work that out.

This has nothing to do the munster Final and for you to suggest that I think the Leinster Final will be a non event because the munster Final was a non event is a rather ridilicous statement to make. No coorelation between them at all.

All I'm doing is offering my opinion without any agenda. I don't think I insulted any posters from either Meath or Dublin nor did I suggest that any players from either side are spineless or gutless.

Best of luck to Meath. Looking forward to this one and hope its a good game.

Would love to see Meath pull off an upset but I would imagine Dublin will win by 5-6 points.
