I just can't see Down troubling Tyrone this Sunday in Omagh. Home advantage will have a big bearing on this fixture and if Down are in trouble early in the 2nd half, I expect them to throw in the towel.

does anyone know??



Yeah it's pretty much a straight road from the bus depot - not too far of a walk, you might not fancy it if its pouring out of the heavens though. Bout a mile or two.

not much word about Tyrone, Down, amazing, all talk about, Monaghan, Derry, Donegal, Cavan, this has to be the most open Ulster senior football champsionship in year s, any1 of 7 bar Fermanagh,Antrim no disrespect can,will be going all out to win. well i would have Tyrone no1 seed, next Monaghan, it s possible winners of Derry, Donegal into final, other side, it look s Tyrone, or Down,even Monaghan, Armagh, Cavan, very hard to call, depends who win s first games then Semi, if Tyrone, Down, then they go through, if Monaghan, v Cavan, 50, 50, same Armagh v Monaghan, for sunday i am going for a Down v Tyrone draw, me thinks Monaghan will beat any of these , but will fall short to Cavan, Donegal v Cavan final, i have said this since start of year so i will stick with this, winner s, ?????? if this does not happen then Tyrone to win Ulster. minor is between Tyrone, Donegal, Cavan.

Mc hugh from the sense I made of your post you have basically tipped about 6 teams there, way to throw yourself out on a ledge.

Tyrone fans still a bit worried as Mickey had not nailed down a starting team by the end of the league and defence was still very shakey. Also alot of boys coming back from injury and you would doubt whether they would be fit to play any part yet. I think monaghan have a rude awakening coming at some point this year in ulster. Fair enough they won last year, but without mc manus and everyone being ready for them I don't think they will be anywhere near as effective. Sunday will tell alot as to how good tyrone can be and if we get up a head of steam i think we will be hard to stop. I expect and hope mickey goes more defensive anyway.

Donegal will still have a sting in the tail and I think they might hit derry with a surprise. Heres hoping for a good game sunday whilst the whole country is watching show what ulster football is all about!

As for walk from the BUS DEPOT to HEALY park realistically would take an active person about 15 or 20 mins, brave wee walk but doable, alternatively turn left at the bus depot, head over the bridge to Strains, drink a pint and wait for a taxi!

Think Tyrone will win this but Down will certainly make it difficult. when we played Down in the league they played a defensive system not unlike Donegals and we just didn't have the creativity to beat them. Down actually won that game fairly easy. Tyrone have also struggled against the same system for the past few years, getting beat by Donegal and just squeezing past a similar Monaghan side. I think however that they have improved in the forwards since last year and with home advantage just win by a few points. The only worry for Mickey Harte will be midfield so I'd expect a Cluxton type precision kick out performance from Morgan and that should sort that.

If Tyrone win then I'd also expect them to beat Monaghan and progress to the Ulster Final. If they meet Derry I'd expect them to win and if its Donegal then it will be the toss of a coin again as I'm not sure just where we're at at the minute.

Hoping for a good quality Ulster Championship, the passion and closeness isn't in any doubt so hopefully the football will be of a high quality too!!

I said on the Tyrone forum, its a very interesting Tyrone line up. I think alot of people will be looking at that thinking they are there for the taking - I would imagine that is a lot of peoples first reaction on the forum here too.

Harte certainly isn't taking Down lightly, that would be foolish - but I do get the feeling he is trying not to show his hand just yet. Risky.

Not sure what he is keeping under wraps, this is a good team that is lining out against Down. Clarke and Cavanagh in Midfield is a perfect combination in my view. Both are two hardy players and will cause any team problems. Our half back line again of is of top drawer quality - Matthew Donnelly, Harte and Tiernan McCann. I mean what more do you want? 3 top runners in at centre half forward including big Sean Cavanagh. We all know S.Cavanagh does not suit midfield and wants to be in the forwards, McGinley and McNeice are two of the fittest men on the team and they will have a job to do of tracking back I'd imagine. Coney, McCurry and McKenna in at the full forward line. Great to see the big Strabane man D.Mcbride come in at full back, I like this team and there will be changes throughout the game no doubt with some good men on the bench

I have a feeling Down might win this one but I think Monaghan have a better chance of beating Tyrone in Clones than Down in Newry. Good luck to both teams and let's hope for a good game!

McHugh11. Cavan will definitely not win the Ulster Championship this year, nor will Armagh.
Ulster is realistically between 4 teams of Derry, Tyrone, Monaghan and Donegal. With Down maybe having an outside shout if they put a run together.

This game in Omagh today is so hard to call.

Tactically Division 1 has been open football with all out attacking the weapon of choice this year, while Division 2 has been mainly made up of defensive physical sides with strong running games.
Last seasons relegation of Donegal and Down created an odd scenario where Division 1 hasn't has had any defensively strong sides this season. We haven't really seen the attacking sides play any defensive sides since maybe January's pre-season tournaments.

Tyrone would be my favourites to win today, but Down have become a much leaner team this year and It wouldn't be a major shock if the beat Tyrone.
Kyle Coney finally starts, which is long overdue in my opinion. I'm really looking forward to this game now.

Down are very poor around the middle. Haven't been able to win anything at all. Tyrone's poor shooting keeping Down in it.

If Tyrone click up front it could be a big beating for Down unless their midfield improves.
