Tyrone v Down

Easier to play against Down and the media than Tyrone and the referee in fairness.

McGinley may have hit 2-1 but Peter Harte was the best player on the pitch by a mile. Down had no answer for him. Good luck against Monaghan!

Bitterly disappointed by the replay. I think Down improved from the 1st day, but so did Tyrone. It seemed to me that there was a bit of play acting going on at the start by both sides and after 10 minutes the ref decided he wouldn't be giving any more frees for that carry on, and the football began. We needed a score from that penalty to set us up and in the end we were let off the hook when Tyrone, already leading comfortably, struck the woodwork twice in the 2nd half.

I was glad to see some of the Down men never gave up the fight but in truth we were outclassed by the Tyrone half backs, midfield and inside forwards. Their movement and pressure was the difference, because while both teams lost the ball often, when they got it off us they would manufacture a point.

Best we have to look forward to now is a favourable draw in the back door.(not Derry I hope)
