Tyrone v Down

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Looks like both sides are basically the same as last week. Just hope the Down midfield get involved from the start this time, which won't be easy with Morgan's distribution from the kick outs.

WHAT is that team listing about? Cannot understand why Mickey Harte won't put out his best team. Disillusioned.

UMFC Monaghan v Tyrone postponed due to bereavement.

Was due to be played before tomorrows match at Pairc Esler.

Refixed for Sat 21st June.

Sympathies to the Bannigan family.

If the GAA president and establishment have got tired of Mickey Harte's criticisms
why have they not got tired of the blatant problem causing so much confusion on the playing fields
week after week after week: the INCONSISTENCIES OF GAA REFEREES? ??
The black card has only highlighted this problem which was there all the time.
If its not possible to have a rule interpreted clearly in the same way by all referees, then
abolish it before it causes a serious problem.

How are your marketing skills? Will you be singing your anti-Tyrone songs? If so, I might purchase a few gloves and throw in a tip lol.

What are the local radio stations that this game will be commented on so I can link in on-line, seeing as none of the TV broadcasters are showing it.

Muckla the match commentary is on Destination Newry website,
commentary by Patsy Russell and Ross Carr I think.

Also it is on Radio Ulster 1341 MW,commentary usually by
Owen McConnon.I am not sure if this is available online
as it may be the FM version they have online and it is
only on medium wave.

The GAA should let Destination Newry show the match on line.
I remember the last replay between the sides was streamed on line.

There would be a good attendance at this match regardless.

Im heading to the match anyway but it would let others around
Ireland see a match that could be another real thriller.

Disappointed with the Tyrone line-up, still don't seem to have a defensive leader starting even though old hands Gormley & McMahon were needed last week when Down had the run on us. Had hoped at least 1 of them would have started, also McNeice, McKenna & McGinley don't exactly roar scoring threat, occupying 3 of the 6 forward positions.
Ah well, bring it on!

Thanks Redandblack and RedHanddefender. Pity these games are not on but I will listen anyway. Fancy Down at home but lets see what happens.

I think that the Tyrone team was doing little wrong in the first 50 minutes of the game, those lads came on but didnt do much to be honest to stem the down attack, it was basically the rooky kick outs and tyrone's failure at midfield that would be most at fault for down's second half gallop. I really fancy tyrone to come good today, it wont be easy, but they just seem to have the edge on down, lets face it tyrone would class last sunday as a bad performance, and can get much improvement on it, while down will struggle to repeat their second half performance. I cant see down getting 3 goals this time any more than I can see them getting their point kicking organized, they were very fearful of having a go and I think Tyrone will edge them out for this reason.

And Down wouldn't? We were shocking. Only in the 2nd half did we play anywhere near to our capabilities. Hoping we can't possibly play as bad again today (bar a 10 minute spell when we tore Tyrone to shreds).

Down played well when Tyrone switched off, we are no great shakes but we are a better side than down, if we bring our A game today for the full 70 then it won't matter how well down play we will blow them outta the water. I'm a bit perplexed by mickeys team selection, hopefully the lads repay his faith with a good performance. I think Tyrone by about 7 points, it'll be a victory for attacking football over a negative down side.

Down are up against it, well behind at this stage. Tyrone the much better attacking team, superior overall. Down will be out of the Ulster championship and in the back door. Slight slip up in Omagh, an inconvenient draw against an average down side. Monahan should be a tougher test.
