Ah no hteam, it would be about right for the gaa to sign the deal with sky on april fools day - and give everyone press outlet 20 headlines in the process.

Regrettable but if the devil himself pitched up with a load of money
the GAA would sell the rights to him lol.

Sign of the times but it is sad that an amateur organisation is so driven
to make as much profit as possible.

Will the GAA cut ticket prices in the summer to try to fill venues due to
the extra Sky money??No.Its sad to say because it has an excellent product
but the GAA is now probably the greediest amateur sport in the world, to quote
the famous carlsberg ad.

Haha you're probably right Master, the Gaa doing something like this would be par for the course.

If its an April Fools trick then its a stupid one given that everyone is expecting the deal to happen anyway.

Sky have made offers in the past and the GAA have turned them down. They've held out a lot longer than most sports. Not just the big ones but the likes of Netball, UK Ice Hockey/Basketball, Speedway have 'sold out' years ago.

Probably not but didn't they reduce them last year? Also reductions were made for League tickets this year. Overall the ticket prices are very good value IMO as they are

Isn't college gridiron in the USA amateur? Surely that's greedier.

Fair enough Htaem but the writings on the wall surely, is
confirmation not imminent??

It does look imminent alright but I still want to see it confirmed first, that's the only true way of knowing what's what.

Royal Badger this selling games to Sky is a slippery slope for the
GAA.Gridiron might be greedier but the GAA surely doesnt need
the income its generating, unlike its main rivals, soccer, rugby
etc as they dont pay players??

If the prices were only 5 euro lower you could have an extra 2,000
through the gates every week.

Was down in Navan for the Meath game well done on your win,use put
in a good performance.Felt that Down should have kicked on early
in the second half thats were we lost it.

Its official. 31 live games for RTE(all provincial finals) Sky will show 14 live games(8 saturday night qualifiers and a AI QFs included). Irish in Britain can watch 20 games from comfort of own homes. Also going to let USA viewers watch games on RTE digital at home. Probably the most progressive rights package ever. Takes away the need for irish overseas to go to pub to watch games.

Dont see it as a slippery slope at all.
31 championship games to be televised by RTÉ include the All-Ireland finals and semi-finals in both codes, the All-Ireland hurling quarter-finals, and two of the four All-Ireland football quarter-finals.

RTÉ will also show all six Provincial championship finals, while the remainder of the 31 games to be shown live on RTÉ are a mixture of provincial championship and qualifier games. Ulster championship games covered by RTÉ, including the Provincial football final, will also be broadcast on BBC Northern Ireland.

Sky Sports has obtained exclusive Island of Ireland rights to 14 championship games which will be eight Saturday evening matches in the All-Ireland qualifiers, two football all ireland quarter-finals, and two Saturday evening and two Sunday provincial championship games.
Sky Sports will also broadcast live the All-Ireland hurling and football semi-finals and finals, thus making 20 live games available to its subscribers throughout Britain and Ireland.

TG4 have retained the Sunday afternoon Allianz League matches and also will have coverage of the All-Ireland Minor finals while continuing to cover AIB Club Championships, the Fitzgibbon and Sigerson Cups, All-Ireland Post-Primary Schools competitions, the U21 Football Championship, U21 Hurling Championship and county finals.
TG4 will show 62 live and 22 deferred games in each of the three years. Setanta Sports will continue to broadcast Saturday evening Leagues games.

domestic TV broadcast rights will see over 90 live games shown free-to-air within Ireland in each of the next three years,
In addition to Sky Sports providing exclusive live coverage of 20 championship matches in Britain, Channel 7 will show all 45 live championship games free to air in Australia.

In a joint venture between the GAA and RTÉ Digital - which will allow supporters living in the U.S and worldwide access to all games televised live in Ireland via the internet on PC, desktops, laptops, tablets, smart phones and other connected devices.

When you read everything its a very good deal the GAA have done

Sounds like a really good package, particularly with regard to coverage abroad. Perhaps this is what's needed to shake up RTE's stale and complacent coverage of Geelic games?
