If true, not nice.

Caulry by 2pts
The Downs by 3pts
Loman's by 2pts
Tyrellspass by 3pts
Tang by 4pts
Athlone by 2pts

That will leave the Downs top with Lomans second. Kinnegad 3rd and Caulry 4th. Mullingar and Garrycastle to drop to Section B for next year. Tyrrellspass and Athlone through from Section B with Tang to lose out on head to head having already lost to Athlone.

Milltown by 1pt
Castledaly by 4pts
Rochfortbridge by 3pts
Ballymore by2pts
Ballynacargy by 4pts
Kilbeggan by 2pts

Rochfortbridge to top the group with Shandonagh, Milltown and Castledaly all tied on 6 points and I'm not sure who has the better score difference here. Ballymore and Tubberclaire already through from Section B. Kilbeggan and Maryland to finish level on points and will have to play a relegation play off.

Disappointed to hear of Jack Cooneys departure. Left of us in a better place than where he took over. Felt like he had something building here. New appointment needs to be right.

Be interesting to see would Westmeath be interested in bringing Pat Flanagan back?

Wow, didn't see that coming. Hopefully CB had some prior notice and have a plan in place. Had been smugly watching other counties on the hunt thinking we were in safe hands. Can't blame Jack if a full time job has come up in Croke Park. He has done 4 years and is leaving us in a great place. So what now or more importantly who now ?
Is John Keane up to it ? Would give continuity and maybe Damien Gavin would come in too, having been U20 manager for a few years now. Anthony Cunningham living in Athlone might be another option.

Major surprise. I hope John keane and Dessie Dolan are given the role to carry on their great work

After today's games in the Intermediate championship my understanding is the draw for the knockout stages is as follows:

Quarter Final
Shandonagh Vs Ballymore
Castledaly Vs Tubberclair

Semi Final
St Mary's Rochfortbridge Vs Castledaly / Tubberclair
Milltown Vs Shandonagh / Ballymore

Relegation Playoff
Maryland Vs Kilbeggan

Id imagine the full time position within Croke Park and player development meant he would have to give up his Westmeath position which is a huge loss for Westmeath but great for Jack himself so best of luck to him and well done on his success with Westmeath.

Milltown deserve massive credit for turning around their season, they lost nine successive league matches and their manager left early in the season. They struggled to get a new manager and yet they've reached the intermediate championship semi final when majority of pundits expected their demotion to section B. Worrying form for Castledaly as the championship reaches its knockout stages. Rochfortbridge will be favourites to win the title but Shandonagh have a handy route to the final and will fancy their chances. Milltownpass had a very disappointing campaign and look to have work to do to be competitive again.

I think kilbeggan can pull out the great escape.
What's gone wrong in miltownpass. They were disappointing. Intermediate wide open

I was in shock when I seen this. I couldn't see it coming. I'd imagine if Jack could have managed both positions he would happily stay on but all I can do is wish him the best in his new role. He owes Westmeath football absolutely nothing from player to selector, coach and ultimately our first homegrown manager in over two decades. I really feel it is very important we get his replacement right. Jack seemed to have instilled a huge team spirit within the squad and one thing I noticed in particular in Kevin Maguire's speech after the Tailteann win was he described him as their "spiritual leader". He got the best out of players that other managers would have probably given up on. I'll give Luke Loughlin as an example. I'm sure he won't mind me saying as he has been so open and honest about his troubles but other managers would have probably cast Luke aside saying his off field antics weren't worth the hassle but Jack knows his talent and got the best out of him. Even his interviews, he was always positive but also honest in his assessment when games didn't go our way. We have a few players in their early 30's and they are players that I feel we still need around. Maguire, Dolan, Egan, Heslin that you might fear could consider retiring that you wouldn't have thought about if Jack was staying around. I see some looking for Keane/Dolan for continuity which I can see the merits of and others mentioning big name outsiders but that should only be an option if we go for the right name. I'd hate to see us repeat the mistakes of Paul Bealin and Colm Kelly. I'd like to think our current Co board top table has moved on with the times from those days.

Are all last group games supposed to be played at the same time? I see Moate and Tang now being played at 12 o'clock and the other two games at 3. Could have an impact on the other 2 games. Anyone know the reason for the change? And why it was allowed?

I think the Keane/Dolan management team makes sense in order to keep up the continunity going.Jack Cooney had faith in them to bring them into his set up so why change now. They both know the set ups /players within the county club teams-im sure the current county squad have faith in them and if needed Jsck Cooney is only a phone call away for advice if needed.Bringing an outsider in and your back to square one

Senior is Loman's in semi where they play Kinnegad or Killucan. The Downs in semi to face Tyrrellspass or Caulry. Garrycastle and Mullingar Shamrocks down to section B. Intermediate is St. Mary's in semi vs Castledaly or Tubberclair and Milltown in semi vs Shandonagh or Ballymore. Milltownpass and Malachy's demoted to section B, Maryland play off vs Kilbeggan with losers to junior. Loman's seemed to have decisive win over Kinnegad, one way traffic in second half based on half time and full time scores. Think Kinnegad scored only once in second half.
