Replying To westmeathman99:  "Junior looks very interesting this year. Very little between Joes, Bun and Multy in my eyes. Bun v Multy will tell a good bit but with both teams through already, neither will want to show their hand too much. Can't see a winner from anywhere other than Joes, Bun or Multy although Garrycastle and the Down both going quite well on the other side."
What has happened Ballycomoyle? Should have had us bet and now look favourites for Junior B

Virtually none of their hurling contingent have played championship and they would form the backbone of their side.

I thought it was only Lomans that wont let lads play hurling ,god forbid its happening elsewhere, so its rampant after all.

You were the lad denying it was happening for weeks and months despite knowing full well the Loman's players were told to concentrate on the big ball. At least try and be honest in your posts. Other prominent clubs seem to manage like The Downs and Killucan. I've no idea why Ballycomoyle lads are not playing. their prominent hurlers aren't.

I can't understand this from Ballycomoyle players, I saw them comprehensively beat a seriously strong Downs junior team in a quarter final last year in what was a game they weren't given a prayer for. Fast forward 12 months and they're letting other influences dictate that they can't play another sport, when this is a competition that they should be challenging to win. This is wrong on so many levels and affecting several clubs from what we're hearing. It's always the less prominent code in the area that suffers, ironically in some cases affecting their best chances of winning something

Anyone know the format for the U19 championship? Great to see it being played at this time of year in good weather and hard pitches.

Don't recall denying anything or knowing anything "full well" . As far as being honest ,posting pub talk and rumour in the guise of facts is hardly breaking news and obviously you are just an expert on Lomans when you dont know what the Ballycomoyle boys are doing

Ballycomoyle had everyone last year due to Covid and all the gaels lads playing and Derek Mc had just transferred from Finea to them. That was realistically there only chance at winning something because they played better than usual and had everyone.

Does anyone know what happened to the YouTube highlight reel Westmeath gaa had on YouTube ? It's not running this year and I enjoyed watching it.

Did anyone ever consider that maybe lads in their early twenties decide that playing for two clubs and training for two codes is to much .Maybe they now don't want to be training/playing 4/5 nights every week . It isnt always the case that they were threatened down a dark alley late at night not to play another sport . Maybe some of these guys who most have college degrees actually can make up their own minds and say "im just gonna give 100% to one code "

Hurling is the game of north Westmeath and long may it be so. Perhaps the condensing of the championship into a short period had forced lads to make a choice.

You're the Loman's expert Chick, that's definitely the case and you know better than anyone that players were encouraged to focus on the big ball.

Combination of a hectic fixture schedule and influences from other codes seem to be the issue

Replying To Temple56:  "All the pressure on Caulry

They are a arrogant bunch of players and wont feel the pressure. People around Mount Temple are already talking about a S/F Vs The Downs and how they will beat them. They still have to get pass Shamrocks and Tyrellspass....."
You're right there about Caulry! The arrogance oozing out of the club at all levels. Their ladies were hammered by Kinnegad in the championship recently. But they have successfully appealed the result on the grounds that Kinnegad had no number attached to one their players on the team sheet! And they knowing well who the player in question was as she played county this year. They were awarded the points anyway.

So what you are saying is that Kinnegad failed to list one of their players on the official teamsheet (who just happened to be one of their county players)? Sounds like a Kinnegad problem to me!

No. Kinnegad didn't fail to list any of their players. They just didn't have a number beside one of them on the team sheet. That's a technical error which Caulry have cunningly followed up on. County threw it out as they obviously knew the player involved. The arrogant crew then took it further €. This was a game Caulry lost by eight points but felt they deserved the points? Arrogance is right.

Agree Kinnegad failed or didnt bother to do correct paperwork-which is a rule to do-in my opinion the arroganace is totally on them thinking "shur its only a rule who cares!!"-do it right and they wudnt have a problem.

Replying To jamsie:  "Where you getting this from? Not saying you're wrong, as things might have changed. But last year when Shamrocks, Caulry and Moate all finished on same points the scoring difference was based on all 5 games. Shamrocks lost to both Caulry and Moate and still finished top, mainly thanks to one big win against Rosemount which boosted their scoring difference."
You are correct and I was wrong, "points difference rule between 3 teams only" applies only if there was a game conceded at any time in the Group stage. To qualify for QF's then Mullingar Shamrocks need to beat Caulry by +17 and hope Garrycastle lose
