Lomans to beat shamrocks by 20 pts but I think privately they prefer to go down the 1/4F route. Not sure it's beneficial for a downs or Kinegad to be waiting 5-6 weeks for a 1/2F. It did both of them no good last year.

In Kinnegad's case they were facing the reigning champions and the best side in the championship so that's harsh. The Downs would relish a semi final as they have injuries to 3-4 players and 4-5 key players are also on Clonkill team. Avoiding a quarter final allows more rest and good training period. No other contender has as many dual players except Killucan and it will be interesting to see effect of Raharney now being in knock out territory.

Was just going to make the same point re injuries and dual players.
If they do go straight into semi's, you'd imagine The Downs will be delighted with the break to get the likes of Luke Loughlin sorted.
Looks like Clonkill will go straight into county final which will also help.
Kinnegad I think would only have Darren Giles hurling ?
Kinnegad v Lomans in the last round of the group stages will probably decide 2nd and 3rd place.
Killucan coming from Section B will have a quarter final regardless.

Went to the Maryland vs Tubberclare game last night , tubberclare very dominant should have won by a lot more, there defence completely on top, maryland only scored 4 points in the entire game. That's ballymore and tubberclare confirmed through to a semi final.

Tubberclair and Ballymore are only into a quarter final. The top two in group A will go to a semi final. The third and fourth in in group A will play Tubberclair and Ballymore in Quarter finals.

Third and fourth in Section A might not relish playing either Tubberclair or Ballymore in quarter final, Rochfortbridge look guaranteed to be in semi final, Tubberclair have qualified for quarter with Ballymore to play, latter two could rest players ahead of quarter final, losers of Shandonagh vs Castledaly look set for quarter final,

Tyrellspass through to quarter final now after beating Athlone who have now lost two on the bounce. Tyrellspass unbeaten and will be happy but they haven't exactly been blowing teams out of the water. They have got through the right side of some tight matches and that should stand to them in the knockouts. Athlone will be disappointed with the loss but to only score 3 points in the second half is a poor return. Tang beating Killucan was a huge result for them which should go a long way to avoiding relegation. It looks like they have only a slim hope of a quarter final spot depending on other outcomes but their main aim was surely to stay up this year and build for next year. They had a couple of disappointing losses where they could have won but they looked a lot more solid and organised outfit against Killucan than in their earlier games. Killucan just have to beat an already qualified Tyrrellspass in the last game to qualify for a quarter final so they will be hoping that loss won't deflate them too much. They had opportunities and got in behind Tangs defence on a few occasions but to be denied by the goalkeeper and they were only ever a score off. It will be an interesting last day but probably won't bring the same drama as last years section b final day

Mad.
So I make it the downs are through to semi finals and guaranteed top spot as Lomans and kinnegad can only get to 8 points and downs have head to head on both and these play eachother in the last game. Garrycastle need to beat the downs in the last group game and hope Caulry lose to shamrocks or there out of the championship.
In section 2 tpass through to a quarter final and if killucan have to avoid defeat in last round to tpass in order to progress ahead of athlone however if tang were to win athlone to lose and killucan draw it would be tang who go through.
In intermediate ballymore and tubberclair advance from section 2 with the bridge also advancing to a semi in section 1 with 2 teams contesting 2nd spot. Milltown vs Mtp in last game I think and the winner will progress to quarter finals ?
In junior Lomans and ballycoymoyle are knocked out.

Still a number of issues to be sorted in final round with majority of teams having something to play for. Exceptions are The Downs, Tyrrellspass who will finish top in each division with Tubberclair and Ballymore through in intermediate section B before they meet. Rochfortbridge and Shandonagh into intermediate semi finals barring unlikely set of results. Rosemount relegated, Tang, Killucan and Athlone all in contention for quarter final spot in senior section B. Caulry unlucky not to beat The Downs while Milltownpass vs Milltown is a decider to reach quarter final. Kilbeggan look likely to be relegated to junior while Joseph's gave Multy a tough game in junior and they could meet again in final.

Bun put up a great score against a poor ballinagore team. Multy got the better of joes with experience seemed like to be key. The junior is wide open between Multy, Joes and Bun and maybe one of the second teams providing challenge. Great 6 weeks ahead!!

Shocking advert for senior football in Mullingar y/day-Rosemount v Moate woeful game between 2 poor sides -little wonder neither of them had won a c/ship game so far this year-fair play to Moate who retain senior status but Rosemount need a major revamp to get back up.
Completely opposite was the game in Rochfortbridge where The Downs and Caulry served up a cracker where Caulry were most unlucky not to win having come from 4 pts down heading to injury time to have a great chance from a free to go ahead right at the death only for The Downs to to counter attack and grab a winner.Caulry played the last 10 mins with 14 players after a harsh black card but were well deserving of something from the game.Downs very impressive in first half and scored some great pts but Senan Baker showed his huge talent with 2 super goals.Very good game overall with The Downs now gauranteed top spot and Caulry should grab a 1/4 spot in the final game.

Anyone at the Lomans v Shamrocks game yesterday? Missed the game, big score for Lomans in the end, anyone have a round up of the game or who played well, much appreciated… Looks increasingly likely that we have a Lomans v Downs final this year.

First half was quite even. Lomans were 2 up at half time, but Shamrocks probably should have been in front as missed a complete open goal. Shamrocks very defensive , which was fair enough after their last result. Lomans upped a gear in second half and although 8 points was a bit flattering, the win was never in doubt. Some good shooting from Lomans, from the usual suspects. The best scores of the game mostly game from Denis Corroon who was really good - but a one man show really.
As mentioned above, the second game was woeful. The gap between the two groups is stark.

So looks like Tyrrellspass v Caulry (unless Shamrocks do Garrycastle a favour) , with the winners playing The Downs.
Lomans, Kinnegad , + Killucan/Athlone/Tang on the other side.
Shamrocks and Moate could still technically qualify , but it would take unthinkable swings in scoring difference. So really they have nothing to play for. Rosemount, Tyrrellspass, and The Downs with nothing to play for either.
