Replying To Freethinker:  "He says that family commitments due to the travel will be the deciding factor. Not too sure that Crossmaglen to Roscommon would necessarily be any shorter a drive that Cross to Wicklow, given a motorway most of the way."
What would be the feeling on Burke compared to McConville down there?

Burke seemed to be doing ok. Vibes were positive. Then he walked. Nobody ever knew why. The Kildare job was coming up again. Maybe he was positioning himself, but he said not.

Replying To FullOfPorter:  "I don't know, if he's packing in the job in Wicklow because of family committments then it seems unlikely he'll come our way? How do Wicklow rate him compared to Burke I wonder? Similar records on paper but McConville is an All Ireland winner and a perennial club winner with Crossmaglen so knows all about the standards that need to be set and I'm sure would instill belief in players.

On Frankie or Dunning? They would need some top coach in with them I would say. I like the idea of Don but don't know if that's possible."
I'm not too sure that Oisin has fully grasped the concept of the new rules. Still plays a lot of back and forward around the D. Possession being the priority But then, a lot of teams play a similar style . Kildare v Fermanagh was a case in point on Sunday, after we gifted Limerick our game.

Was Frankie not involved with McConville in Wicklow as coach. (or was it another county)? Interesting if the two management teams swopped. Frankie back to Roscommon with McConville as manager and Davy Burke back to Wicklow.
I would say all his talk is very much remour rather than reality at the moment.
Davy Burke and Roscommon County Board would have to talk to each other about both their intentions first. However the Roscommon County Board should not let the process drag out too much as per previous posts.

Interesting. I know there can be a certain amount of it that is unavoidable but when a team turns over the ball in their own half or wins an opposition kick out, how they work it from there will show if they are taking advantage of the new rules or not. Roscommon definitely did not.

Hadn't known that but seems he was. You are right though, it's all pure speculation. Even running with that speculation for a minute, I'd be thinking they would still need a very good coach to come in there if you are trying to compete in Div 1.

Frankie is or was, depending, part of Oisin's current setup with Wicklow. I think this is his first year as a coach with us, anyway.

Frankie Dolan joined Wicklow as a coach this year. He was part of the Roscommon U20 management that won Connacht in 2024.

He managed Abbeylara to their first Longford senior crown in 18 years back in October.
