Definitely not writing them off, could win it.

Replying To tommy k:  "The problem is that many Galway players in general do not have enough pace to "run at them through the middle". Cooke, Conroy, Tierney etc. are very good players overall but they are not blessed with natural pace and that is one of the vital characteristics in the way the game is played currently. Other players with pace such as Walsh, Sweeney and Burke do not always have the required power to hold onto the ball if a physical tackle is made so its a mixture of inadequate pace and power depending on the players involved. The only players that I see with the required pace and power on the Galway team are Sean Kelly and Damien Comer. Comer is injured more often than not and Kelly was injured towards the end of the Armagh game that continued into the Mayo game."
Another player that I think has the required power and pace and who had a very good first full championship season is John Maher and one could also include Cillian McDaid so that makes a total of 4 Galway players with the required attributes for intercounty!

Replying To Dunmore10:  "Same rubbish on here all the time blame connor gleeson. No word of forwards who can't score, no word of a reliable free taker. To try blame our goalie for losing all matches is such rubbish"
The team as a whole were not firing on all cylinders this year and that includes 1 to 15.They never all clicked on the same day.Wasnt a great year but all we can say is Onwards and Upwards.

Only one of Killererin or Gabriels can go down, they are in the same group.

2 going down to Junior again this year

Anyone know the latest with Annaghdown? They had to concede their last game of the league due to not being able to field a team. Comer back but hard to see them getting themselves together for championship.

Ah ya but their in a handy enough group, they should beat James, spideal and lmore handy then miltown and themselves for the 2nd place playoff, win that and their into knockout stages so not a bad group to be in when having management issues.
Comer and Frankie will do the business up front so I fancy them getting out of group

They have Alan Glynn in as coach so the internal bickering is being put to one side for the time being so will field and if Comer fit ,will be conpeitive.

This time next week there will be discussions of teams of the year and All Stars. As usual it will be dominated by finalists and semi finalists with Kerry / Dublin sharing 10/12 and the other 3/5 will go to Monaghan/Derry.
Its a flawed process and it wont change .
But equally so, nothing will convince me that Sean Kelly wouldn't deserve one. I know I'm putting the maroon hat on but I would say he is in the top 5 players in the country this year. Ignoring his endeavours with club and college he got Galway to a Division 1 league final , won Connacht , and only for his injury and a bizarre combination of events , he would have got us to a QF at least and possibly further.
It also has to be said that he was so unlucky last year as although we got 5 All Stars and Sean Kelly was definitely in our top 5, he missed out. . Probably paid the price or having to mark the unmarkable in the AI.
Look, I'm not trying to start a petition or anything because there is as much chance of SK getting an All Star as there is of getting an objective report of a Mayo game from a Mayo man.
But if they were selected on merit/performances over the year he would be a shoe in.

Probably be a good idea for you to check who's in each championship and how many are going up and down.

Is there anywhere on the web that explains the format of the football championship. Specifically about how teams come out of the group. Who doesn't come out. Who goes into Relegation.

I agree. Sean Kelly deserves it. He would have had a huge chance of player of the year if they didn't lose against Mayo.
