Replying To minor77:  "Their big problem is keeping players after minor many are not from claregalway and concentrate on other sports I remember a few years ago they had a very good u14 team won the galway feile but I would say there isn't 5 playing Gaelic now they had Ryan manning Aaron Connolly Sean Linnane the Doyle brothers and several other turloughmore hurlers I'm afraid that the same thing will happen again you can see that they have lads on the galway minor hurling team and football team they will probably concentrate on hurling"
In fairnes i recall quite a few hurlers kept playing senior with Claregalway
And some of them were fine footballers too

Great win and controlling performance by the young tribesmen. Hard on Mayo with the way the format is but the AI final is about performing on the night.

Hard to believe this is Galways first minor All Ireland success since 2007. The Hyde pitch in excellent condition and it stadium provided a great atmosphere that a near empty Croke Park wouldn't have.

Great evening up in Roscommon yesterday. Congrats to Galway on an All Ireland win and beating Mayo in the final.
Galway had some great forwards but number 2 from Spiddal was absolutely outstanding. He won every single ball against all the Mayo lads..
Now hopefully another win today

I enjoyed that. A few posters here should reflect back on their posts on here from the June bank holiday Monday and Tuesday. I'm absolutely delighted for the management team, they took a fair bit of abuse around their coaching and set up. There were a few comments about how we didn't have the players that others had, well if people had seen St Jarlaths this year you'd have known we did. The two best schools teams in Connacht this year were St Jarlaths and Claregalway College. St. Jarlath's absolutely destroyed Claremorris in the schools final. Posters also need to remember these players are 15, 16 and 17. We also have a nice few underage next year. Well done Alan and team.

A huge congrats to the Galway minors. Absolutely brilliant win and they showed great character when put under a bit of pressure in the second half. Kyle Gilmore the goalie had some fantastic kick-outs that the senior goalkeepers could learn from but the backs were brilliant especially young Farthing who got MOTM and most of the forward play was first class. Well done and enjoy!

Well it all came togheter on the biggest day of all
The performance we knew was in them
The key of course was their improvement in defence
They worked so hard in training to become so good defending
Ahuge amount of credit must go Alan Glynn and his managemant team
To see how that team grew and developed was inspiring
Galway football is pure class and the whole country saw it last night

Wow. Congrats to all involved in minor panel. To come back from the setbacks they had this year really marks them out as individuals of great character.

Future is bright. Enjoy it lads ye earned it

Two Galway football teams winning at the latter stages of the Championship. That doesn't happen often! The minors were powerful on Friday. They looked a very well drilled team with a system in place that worked well. Mayo played the same way as they did against Kerry: head down and run towards goals.

As to the seniors, don't we have some lovely footballers? Comer, what a legend.

The goalkeeper issue is getting too big to ignore however. Another easy goal conceded in the dying moments.

Well done but Kerry or Dublin will take you by at least 6 pts plus.

Best weekend for many a year for Galway.

Scoring goals was crucial to Derry's gameplan all year and today they faced a Galway team that produced their best defensive team effort under this management.

What a individual performance from Comer, showing the talent he is when kept fit. Role on the final in two weeks.

Galway were outsiders in 98 and rank outsiders in 01 so we live in hope.
Strangely enough, although I kind of fancy Dublin tomorrow, I think we'd have a better chance against them in the final than kerry.

Jesus I don't know, I'd prefer to see ye play Kerry. That Dublin team doesn't know how to lose in a final.

I fancy kerry if the leaked programme is to be believed. I don't think Dublin can beat Kerry without Con.

Galway issue is how long the take to settle in to a big game bar a few players. 10 mins v armagh. 30 plus v Derry. Get the heads right and we have a chance

We will be outsiders but we have been in almost every game this year

Some weekend for you guys. Last night totally controlled the AI minor final in Hyde Park and today from the 20th minute took over as Derry couldn't handle the pressure you applied and energy, intensity. If Galway defend that well again why can't they win the final? Enjoy the rest of the weekend celebrations and best of luck in the final in two weeks

Thanks a cara! We're in serious bonus territory at this stage, so win or lose, I'm looking forward to the final.

BTW, can anyone tell me, if the final ends in a draw, is there a rematch of penos?
