Was in Tuam last Sunday for the triple header. Dunmore looked pretty slick at times. Left two lighting fast forwards inside caused havoc for K/C. I think one was Reddington was in the minor team in '07 K/C very poor side Walsh kick 9 out of their 11 scores. K/C will get better. Management the issue. D Murphy and M Shaughnessy on the bench for full game is comical. S Walsh a class act but they have serious forward talent if management picked the right team. Dunmore actually went for the game and J Coen and D Reddington caused havoc inside. M Redfington was excellent also. If Dunmore management were over K/C , the result would have been flipped. I know Lee played at full forward for Headford last weekend. He is definitely one of their more senior plyers .....Heard he used to play a deeper role for Ballylanders, any truth in that? IFC Round 2 Winners Group: -Oranmore-Maree v Glenamaddy -An Spidéal v Headford -Menlough v Claregalway - Draw -Oileain Arainn V Dunmore MacHales Losers Group: -St Brendans v Clifden -Athenry v Oughterard -Williamstown v Ballinasloe -Carna-Caisel v Kilkerrin/Clonberne A fantastic draw for Oran. This should be a close but winnable game and will give their younger players great confidence if they get the win. Get a win here and they'll start to believe they can go all the way. Their fitness should be telling as the season progresses and games become more intense. Dunmore are also likely to advance and it's my belief if they get a bit of momentum they'll also go far especially with those speedy forwards they have. Alas we come to the tie of the round. Menlough Claregalway. I still have CG favourites to win the cup outright but I did caveat that they would need to avoid their bogey team Menlough! This should be an enthralling game. On paper Claregalway win all day but there is no doubt Menlough have the psychological upper hand after narrowly beating Cg in the 2013 final of the same competition and also dishing out a sound beating to CG in the 2015 Q/F stage on a day when their inside forwards ran riot. I would not like to call this game. Menlough's speedy forwards and imposing midfield may get the job done but likewise Cummins & Moran will pose Menlough serious problems of their own. Of the losers group it will be interesting to see if Athenry and K/C can get their seasons back on track, A good win for either here and they will fancy their chances against anybody in the next round, particularly K/C - if they can get their few injuries sorted and tactics sorted they have the best set of forwards in the competition. One would worry for Clifden though. Already Favs to go down imo. Couldn't help but laugh at nathinbutsteels odds. Did I hear it correctly that Dunmore have already got rid of their manager? If so there was no side effects beating KC.
