Sunday will be about which team wants it the most. The important thing for us is that we don't try to match Downs game, we did that during the first half when we met them in the league and we looked like headless chickens on the pitch. In the second half, we slowed our play and that frustrated Down. Down are like a pack of terriers, completely fearless and they hunt for every ball and every play. I hope that Monaghan will have enough fire in their bellies for that quarter final spot because Down certainly will. Any word on G Mohan? Shore up the half back line, get McAnespie into half forward, keep Jack in reserve. You'd be concerned about midfield, Down could have the legs on Monaghan. We need to go at down early and control the game to an extent. We don't want this becoming a chaotic game like 2017 were it was end to end. Down thrive on that. Mohan pull the hamstring or dead leg?it's 2 weeks from Clare game & if we got to quarter finals in 2 weeks away that be month up.if it not the hamstring we could get 10 or 15 mins of him worst case senaerio play him at full forward with the 3 up. Gary Mohan is out for Sunday, a niggling injury but prognosis would be good for a fortnight's time. Shows the value of a win, top the group and buy an extra week's prep for a QF. This Down team can look dead and buried but then win a game in 10 minutes, Monaghan can look comfortable all through and then lose a game in 5 minutes. Sunday will be a tough day. If there was any threat of complacency about this fixture which there should never been given Downs form and our display v Clare that is definitely gone now with Gary Mohan missing out. With our record in Armagh and the injury issues it leaves one travelling with some fear. It is now more important than ever that we pick up dirty breaking ball around the middle. Like an earlier poster mentioned this is the biggest game for Monaghan for a while. Win and who knows where it could end up. Good luck to Gabie and the lads. Down are in a perfect position and will be absolutely rubbing their hands for this one. They will surely see Monaghan as a winnable game so a very dangerous opponent. A Div 3 outfit on paper only as id see it. Monaghan will have to produce their best performance of the year to come out the right side of it I think. Cautiously optimistic. Gavin McPhillips named to start- I'm not convinced he will but he should. He did well in the league match v Down when he came on for Wilson for the second half. Would be madness to start D Hughes, he will be a like for like sub for McCarville. Can't see other options Lavelle and McBennett being ready for starting midfield.
