Replying To MadgeKing:  "Mayo are sounding very cocky on their own board, talking about trying out players once safety is secured against us. The perfect situation to give them a bloody nose! Its a fair spin to Castlebar and this is last chance saloon- a real test of resolve for the supporters. We need 1500+ in the stand on Sunday to back this team."
MadgeKing, I have just gone on there and they are not cocky at all, Why do you and others (sceptical) go on other counties' forumn and make a show of yourselves by mis-interpeting what posters are saying. obviously there was one troll with 5 posts to his name that said mayo would win easily but the rest are genuine posters who are obviously more cautious. There is no need to be going on there and saying who will mark who out of the game etc etc. that is pure childish and is liable to come back and bite you.

Hang on a second there, I only pointed out that this will be more of a contest than many in Mayo-and in the media- believe it to be. Trash talking about who will mark who came from a different, predictable source.
We have to see that a win against Mayo puts us right back in the race for survival, no harm to sow the seed that it could be at their expense. Anyway good luck to the u21s. Great night for a competitive match.

Faulkner a huge loss for rest of league. Begs the question why have him on bench last Sunday and deprive someone of a squad place?

Faulkner a big loss for us. Hopefully it clears up fully soon. Anyone read Mattie's interview in the Celt? Thought it was good, a different tone to his TV interview after the game. Would be great to see the improvement in performance he alludes to for the remaining 3 games.

Conspiracy theory would suggest, Cavan was the team most likely to challenge Tyrone for Ulster. Tyrone have cleverly managed to plant two passionate Tyrone GAA men in the Cavan setup. Cavan as a team look the most in disarray team we have seen in a long time. Contrary to interview in the Celt it looks like the league has been dismissed even though we have players who could make a team and win those games. There's a heap of players in the panel with little or no game time. Failkner on the bench last week while injured points to a selection team not able to function for the greater good of Cavan football. its time the Cavan lads stood up for themselves and demand better.
It is sad really Cavan supporters had high hopes for Mattie Mc Gleenan and now look go have been sold a pup in fact two pups.

Your post is disrespectful towards the new manager, every player including me knew about Faulkner but did he want Tyrone to know ? They made out a game plan that included Faulkner and it took Tyrone all of the first half to realise he was not playing. Calling the man a pup just shows what you are. Look there are six more points to play for lets see these go and then the rest. The new manager cannot be assessed on anything he does this year but come this time next year YES he can and will be for the he will be fielding what will be his team no one else's. If we get relegated will it be the end of the world off course not but fingers crossed we don't. Look what happened to the team that got rid of Liam Austin do we need more of the same I don't anyway.

I was taking a look through the league tables and we are presently the 7th highest placed league team in Ireland at the moment as we know. Looking at some of the others in Ulster, I think that we are behind Tyrone and Donegal and are pretty much at a level with Monaghan. It has been a while since we were in the top 3 in Ulster. Moving into the Championship, I would be optimistic about our progress. I saw enough in Omagh in the first half to form an opinion that we are capable of competing. We are behind Tyrone but as we saw last year, we can give them a fair run for their money. We could have easily won that game.

If we can get a win in Castlebar then we set ourselves up for an interesting final 2 games. 4 points on the road against our connaught opponents then we may well stay up. So there is still a way to go. In relation to the championship, I think that we will be in good shape by then and don't forget that every division 1 game is improving these lads. I wonder who Mattie is eyeing up form the U21's who may be able to come in and make an impact in the championship. I have 3 in mind but we will see. We all know that Faulkner is a big blow but I think that we will see much tighter games in the final 3 and 2 wins on the road may save our bacon. I think Kerry will enjoy Breffni and the big pitch will suit them and don't expect to win.

Happy Paddy's Day!

In reply to Seanorinn

Clearly you do not understand the term "sold a pup".
I did not call the manager a pup, I implied Cavan fans thought they were getting a much more valuable management asset than it now appears they have, given the poor progress this year.

I would love Cavan to perform well and win the remaining league games, I would love this manager to prove me wrong.
I see nothing to suggest he is a pup as in use of the term..,,, "he is a pup", nothing puppish at all, he appears to be a gentleman, he just looks like he could do with some seriously good advice about how to get scores on the board. That is how games are won .Yes prevent the other team from scorin but put scores up at the other end. And I will say I am baffled at the continued inclusion of a few players who I won't name here. I can't understand how he kept some of the players he had at his disposal both against Donegal and Tyrone and gave them little or no game time.
He looks seriously badly advised, I am disappointed that Finbar Reilly who knows those players either does not rate them or does not have a voice. So who is drivin the bus.....? By that I don't mean who is drivin for Streamline!

I will go to Castlebar, I passionately want Cavan to win, I don't want the work of Terry H, Peter Reilly and Co of the last 8-9 years wasted.

It took Tyrone all of the first half to realise Faulkner not playing??????????? What planet you on. When team announced earlier in week he was named on bench. The announcer didn't say he was playing. It was Mickey Harte over Tyrone not Stevie Wonder.

Playing or sitting on the subs bench the element of doubt was there simple isn't it. Would you as an apposing manager not have picked Faulkner to play if he were on your panel well you see DOUBT was there and you would expect he would have been playing.
Anyway it's over now so the best of luck to the lad's and management this Sunday.

I am not suggestin get rid of him, get him some quality help, bring in another Cavan selector who knows the players. He isn't well advised, why is that not obvious? His substitutions are completely ineffective so where is the advice comin ftom
I was there for the Kerrigan time it was wrong. But Andrews went and Terry came in and that worked to a point.
We needed someone to drive on what Terry started, not someone to start buildin a different house altogether
Do we need now to go back to division 3 and take 5 years to comeback to where Terry H left us.
Think I will follow the club for club championship this year instead.., at least ad have a day out today, not at home rantin!

Huge game tomorrow. Pity Faulkner not available but team slowly appears to be taking shape if it lines out as selected. Mayo have been consistently in the top 2/3 teams in the country for the last 5 years so big challenge for our lads. Even though they will probably be missing the o'shea's they will still be physically stronger than us so hope we move the ball fast & not carry into tackles. Hopefully big support there to cheer on our team. As always best of luck to team & management

Weather is improving for the game,no more rain since 10.00 am, pitch will be very heavy underfoot and grassy. Like Healy Park last week it will be a game of 2 half's as there is always a wind factor in McHale Park. Good match ups for the game can see our lads causing a major upset as Mayo are no world beaters. Up Cavan .
