Both Rathnew and Baltinglass are on show in Aughrim this Saturday evening in second-round games of the Wicklow senior football championship with the former champions taking on Ashford and the holders facing near neighbours Coolkenno. While the two 'big guns' are expected to win their games the matches on Sunday should provide plenty of real championship suspense and entertainment. Newtown and Donard/Glen face one another at 17.30 and Eddie Craul then has the task of keeping order as St. Patrick's and Shillelagh fight for the right to advance. The Wicklow town side will have been disappointed not to have done better against Rathnew a few weeks ago and while their was controversy about the referee's strange penalty decision it will be obvious to management that many of the difficulties that day were of their own making. A failure to score for a period of 27 minutes when assisted by the wind will have concerned Casey O'Brien and his fellow selectors. Tweet
