Mitchell not looking past Roscommon
July 04, 2008
Wicklow face a tricky away fixture in Athleague on Saturday next when the team opens the Christy Ring Cup campaign against Roscommon, in a game that John Mitchell describes as 'our Alamo' as he plans to make it through to the last eight in the competition.
"This game is our Alamo and if we get over the hurdle we will be through to the last eight as two teams go through from our group of three," says manager Mitchell and while Westmeath at home is next on the list, a win on Saturday would ensure that Wicklow would avoid meeting the Lake County until the final.
While Graham Keogh is of course still recovering from his unfortunate injury, otherwise the manager has a full squad at this disposal. Timmy Collins and Liam Kennedy have rejoined the squad and both Joe Murphy and Denis Moran have recovered form injury. Jonathan 'Bosco' O'Neill has served his suspension of three months and Ronan Keddy is back from injury also.
