Kilbride Club Notes
June 23, 2008
The Intermediates played the second round of their championship campaign on
Saturday last in Baltinglass. Like most championship matches the outcome
usually swings towards the team that wants and needs it more. The lads took
the lead with 15 minutes to go, but they never looked like taking the game by
the Oscruff of the neck', Dunlavin tagged on four scores after we took the
lead, and eased to a three point win. We conceded 14 points, simply not good
enough to win a championship match and any team will find it difficult to win
when about a third of the team play well. It's back to basics when we play
Eire Og Greystones in the championship next, there will be no more Oback door',
its back to old style championship from now on in. One defeat and it's final
curtains' for the 2008 season.
The U12's travelled to Stratford last Thursday and dished out a hiding, winning
on a scoreline of 9-11 to 1-1. I don't believe these miss matches achieve very
much for either side. The play at home this Thursday to Ballinacor at 7.15PM.
The U16's start their All County Championship on Monday and Wednesday at home
to Newtown and Avondale next week. Anything can be expected!! The U10's All
County Blitzs commence shortly.
The Junior C's played away to Kiltegan and lost, they play in Lacken on Thursday
against Valleymount.
The 80 Cycle Event takes place on the 13th of July, in aid of the club and The
Blessington and District Senior Citizens. Sponsor cards are now available from
Diarmuid on 086-3113443. You can also email
[email protected] and a
printable electronic sponsor card will be emailed to you. Don't forget the BBQ
after the cycle event in Mooney's for about 6PM. A Junior Cycle has now been
arranged for the kids from 8 years old to 14 around the lakes, with a Garda
escort. Helmet must be worn.
