Donard/Glen football notes

June 23, 2008
Due to an early Monday morning call last Monday I didn't get a chance to congratulate our senior footballers.  While a draw was a bit of a disappointment our very young team played a good game in Aughrim. Some people say we are in a different league than the top teams but having seen all our division 1 games so far this year we are as good as anyone in senior football in the county. Don,t be surprised if they progress along way in the championship. Short almost half last Sunday,s team we were very unlucky to lose to Blessington in Strafford in a semi-gale on Sunday morning. Team was E. Walshe, R. Conron, L. Toomey, M. Daly, D. Daly, C. Osborne, R. Toomey, B. Lennon, D. Rodgers, G. Daly, C. Toomey, N. Stynes, R. Halloran, and N. Curran. J. Whyte, Subs; j. Hanbidge, and A. Tutty On Thursday our division 4 team played well against Baltinglass and when the late comers were introduced there wasn,t a lot between the teams. Feature of the game was the return of Ed Flynn after a long lay off. Our ladies team had back to back wins over pretty good Carlow opposition last week. On Monday they gave a great second half display to pip Old Laughlin in Laughlinbridge and on Wednesday in Dunlavin they beat Clonmore. Both of these were challenge games. The panel for these games were Mar Eager, Caitriona McGrath, Michelle Dalton, Clare Metcalfe, Emer and Siobhan Byrne, Ciara Dwyer, Trish Keogh, Andrea Birchall, Clare Harney, Michelle Manley, Roisin Toomey, Orla Kealy, Mary Byrne, Deirdre and Louise Dwyer, Eve Whyte, Siobhan Figgis, Clare Hanbidge, Edel Wynne, Nicola Conron. Lotto results Mon 15th June No. winner and five match threes each receiving .50. The winning numbers were 10, 13, 26, and 28
