An Tóchar GAA Club notes

June 23, 2008
An Tóchar GAA Club representatives paid a visit to the local schools in Roundwood and Moneystown last Thursday and were warmly welcomed by pupils and staff.  Juvenile coaching officer, John Paul Davis, outlined the role An Tóchar CLG plays in our community and some pupils performed basic skills of the game with John Paul.  Brendan Brady, one of the most successful local players with a range of medals for club and county up to all-Ireland level explained the importance of gaelic football in his life.  He learned the lessons of commitment, discipline, dedication and to achieve success at anything one must be a good listener.  Juvenile chairman Noel Kenna gave each child a pencil with the club website printed on it as they admired the haul of medals both Brendan and John Paul have won at a high level.  Many thanks to John Paul and Brendan for giving their time and to Eileen Molloy for all her work organising goodies and gear for each of the schools.  Our thanks also to both schools for their kindness in having this visit. A Special Presentation Evening was held in Avondale CC to award the  college team for their achievement at both county and Leinster this year.  Congrats to local players Ian Hamilton, Michael Sinnott, Stephen O Neill, Robin Byrne, Cathal Gallagher and Mark Sinnott who were all presented with a medal and plaque.  The under 12s were unlucky to be beaten by Newtown in their recent match by six points.  Scorers were M Miley 1-1, J Salley 0-3, C Byrne, S Healy, E Wolohan 0-3 each and T Kavanagh 1-0.  Our best wishes go to Damien Hanlon who sustained a broken ankle at this match.  We wish him a speedy recovery. Congratulations to Michael Carley, Michael Kenna and Alec Wolohan who all matched three numbers in the club lotto last week.  This week the jackpot is worth .8,600 so please support.
