Murphy shines in rare Louth hurling success

Diarmuid Murphy scored 1-6 as Louth captured the Leinster junior hurling shield with a 1-16 to 1-8 victory over Wicklow at a rain-lashed Aughrim on Saturday.
Having triumphed by 1-10 to 0-9 when the sides met in the group section, Wicklow were expected to repeat the dose and they looked to be on course when they led by 1-3 to 0-4 at the interval.
But the Wee County were the superior team in the second half and they never looked back after man of the match Murphy scored their only goal in the 51st minute.
Scorers - Louth: D Murphy 1-6, G Smith 0-4, D Dunne 0-3, T Hilliard, S Fennell and E McCarthy 0-1 each.
Wicklow: E Mason 1-4, E Furlong 0-3, A O'Brien 0-1.
