Kilcoole look on in vain
June 20, 2008
There was no hiding place for Kilcoole on Friday evening last in Pearse Park as the team was well and truly hammered in the senior hurling championship coming up against Carnew Emmets and losing by a whopping thirty nine points.
Things were not looking good for Kilcoole even before the throw-in as they seemed to struggle to confirm a full fifteen and on the way to this 8-23 to 1-5 win, Carnew had opened their goal account within ninety seconds when David Keddy whose sons Jim and Ronan were playing had to pick the sliothar from the net for the first time.
Michael Neary was slotted in at Number 15 and it was suggested in one of the papers that there was no need for the Glenealy manager and Leinster Hurling development manager to have bothered being on time as he did not get a smell of the ball until the 24th minute.
Carnew leading 7-9 to 0-3 at half time were just as busy in the second half adding fifteen scores including T J Hennessy's goal.
